So our state meet is coming up, and it's time to order champ suits. I swim breaststroke, so what type of suit will be best for me? I don't one that costs more than $150. Or does it not matter and it's just a personal preference?

I recently spent some time on a german swimming forum and this topic came up..... everybody had different opinions on the brand BUT all preferred a knee skin instead of a leg skin- the reason given was that they like the compression on the upper thigh but need the feel for the water on the lower leg

ok so i know i want either a jammer or a speedo. but the only thing i'm thinking about is that the speedo will only cover a small area of my body, and will i really feel a difference?

Its a real head game... DO what you believe, be comfortable and SWIM!:drown: Most *** strokers I know dont like the jammers, but its really up to you cause whichever you think will help you, probally will. Though personally I just go with the speedo. Either way good luck.
  • I used to shave my whole body (other than my armpits or privates--no way was I going there) back when I was in HS/college. Where I didn't have much or any hair (like my chest, back and inner arms) I would just run the blade over quickly. The *feel* you get from shaving (the theory I always heard is that it exposes the nerves by clearing away a layer of skin) is incredible and worth it for big meets. You can't do it all the time, though, or you lose that sensitivity. In fact, I didn't worry about a super-smooth (stubble-free) shave as long as I covered everything at least once (the more over-board you go trying to eliminate those last hairs, the more likely you are to cut yourself, which is no help whatsoever). I've heard lots of folks say that the full body technical suits obviate the need to shave, but I haven't personally tested that theory... If you're really serious, I'd suggest shaving regardless of the type of suit you buy. It can't really hurt (unless you badly cut yourself shaving, I've done that before) and can only help.
  • I like the aquablade jammers. I just bought the jammer from djsports.I’m impressed with DJ Sports and have bought from them in the past. However, I find that USMS corporate partners offer competitively priced items and I prefer to support those organizations that support Masters Swimming. www.usms.org/.../sponsors.php Chris, from your posts, you appear to have some sort of intimate relationship with DJ Sports. If so, do you know why DJ Sports is not a USMS partner? Is it because they haven’t been approached?

Perhaps too intimate? From what I can see every post by chris_swims seems to be a shill for djsports.com

I like the aquablade jammers. I just bought the jammer from www.djsports.com They are not as expensive as the Fastskin but they are lightweight and I think that is the most important feature. Heavy practice suits are not what you want to compete in but don't fall for Speedo's marketing of the fastskin or Fastskin Pro suits.
