Why not come to Tempe for the SCM meet the weekend of November 9, 10 and 11? Should be awesome weather, can't beat the pool or the location. I have posted a link to meet info. Great times for all (in and out of the pool).

DIXIE ZONE SHORT COURSE METER CHAMPIONSHIPS
DECEMBER 7 – 9, 2007
TULANE UNIVERSITY REILY CENTER
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
Elmwood Masters Swim Team and Southern Masters Swimming would like to invite all swimmers to the first Masters swim meet to be held in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. Our regular venue, the University ofNew Orleans Lakefront Arena, was damaged during the storm, and repairs have not yet been completed.
The meet will be held at the Tulane University ReilyStudent-Recreation Center Natatorium which houses a beautiful 50 meter x 25 yard Olympic Sized Pool equipped with a moveable, flow-through bulkhead. Along two walls of the complex large windows allow patrons toview the Varsity athletic track, soccer fields, training fields, as well as the outdoor social pool and sundeck.Natural light fills the natatorium through these windows as well. The competition will take place in the deep endof the pool. The pool is located on Tulane University’suptown campus. The meet will begin on Friday evening with the 1500 meter freestyle. An order of events will be posted on

in the near future.

While parts of New Orleans are still trying to rebuild from the hurricane, the main tourist areas such as the French Quarter and Garden District are completely recovered.New Orleans is a premier vacation spot, with fantasticfood, music, and tourist attractions. Our zoo and aquarium are world-class and linked, in true New Orleans style, by a river boat. More local information can be found at www.neworleansonline.com/ . We will be placing more information on our web sitesoon. We hope to see you “way down yonder in NewOrleans.”
I remember this discussion from an earlier time and one of the problems was that many of the pools that would be used for such an event are college pools and school would be in session during that time.
Rutgers has offered up their facility to host the Colonies Zone Championship this and next year, this after putting the kaibosh on USMS meets a few years ago. Perhaps w/o a men's team anymore, they've got some added pool time.
:dedhorse:
I believe that the "Short Course Championships" in the spring can be either meters or yards. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people would be peeved if they were in Meters, esp since we're not a metric country and there are still LOTS of people who've never (or very infequently) swum in a SCM pool. I grew up with SCM summer league.
Being a born-and-raised Missourian, I wish I could come to Columbia in December. Maybe someone can arrange a big SCM meet there next year. But I think few people will show up for the same reason fewer people come to the summer nationals: families. It's right before winter break and people want to save vacation time for "real" family trips.
Plus, I don't remember Columbia having an airport, which means a two-hour drive from either Kansas City or St. Louis (Columbia's smack-dab in the middle of the state). Who wants to drive that far?
In any case, best of luck at the meet. Hopefully those people will at least be convinced to have a SCY nationals. Who doesn't want to swim in the same water where a world record was broken unshaved and untapered? I just wish they had that pool when I was swimming in high school state meets there, instead of Hickman High!
I do not recall the report at USAS Convention on the SCM Virtual National championship ? Can someone give us an update ?
Anyone from Championship Committe out there or the EC liasion ?
My recollection is that there may be a Beta test effort to gather info from a select number of Zone/LMSC Championships that use Hy-Tek for data management and see what develops from it. Everyone needs to be on the same page from the data standpoint to help minimize the effort or it's too labor intensive.
You could also check out the TYR Masters Grand Prix Series. The finale of the series of 3 SCM meets will be at the University of Chicago. This is a 9 lane, 50 meter facility. During the meet, we will race in 9 lanes with additional lanes available for warm up and warm down.
For more information go to www.TYRgrandprix.com
And we're hosting an SCM meet at a new, incredibly-fast pool. I can say "incredibly fast" because I saw Michael Phelps break his WR there, last winter, in the 200 Fly. He did it unshaven and untapered. :cheerleader:
It's the University of Missouri Aquatic Center in Columbia, Missouri. The meet will be held December 1st & 2nd.
