So disappointing for Chloe Sutton... She moves across the country to train, really dedicates herself to OW and whammo. I'm sure someone will tell me not to feel sorry for her because that's just the nature of OW swimming, but I still do. I agree with Greg; I wouldn't want to swim a race surrounded by impenetrable jelly fish.
Is it normal for OW to be quite so assault like? I mean I know you can't avoid flying elbows and an occasional kick. But it seemed like some swimmers were complaining of overly aggressive tactics by other swimmers?
Oh wow... Poor Chloe. That sucks. This is why when I play in the ocean I stick to right where the waves pound (on the theory that there is less likelihood of finding 'nature' there).
I think I'll stick to Lake Michigan for my open water swims. Ah, just a little E. Coli!
Slightly off-track
Well I jumped on a jelly fish once..that was painful. No I didn't know it was there...
...the best was a pre marriage trip to Greece with my friend. Our final night there, I was smooching on the beach with some girl, while he was in the water splashing around with her friend, as you do. Suddenly he screams in pain...she'd somehow managed to accidently scoop up and throw a jellyfish into his face.
On the plane flying home I was sleeping but I'd wake up and look round to him...and see his swollen red nose...then I'd giggle myself back to sleep...
I still laugh now...LOL
That said I look to do at least one OW this year.
