I thought I'd try an experiment here. I propose that anyone of any swimming level can use this thread (or not) when, whether in a small way or earthshaking manner you've done something in the pool that you're proud and/or pleased by. Anyone is welcome to add encouraging comments (or not) or ask for more info., but please no grandstanding or feuding.
Okay- I'll go first (and I'm just as hesitant as anyone else). Context: last few months hellish: collapse of my dream business, death in family, huge money troubles etc. result months out of water & exercise & 30lb gain. Further, I just went back over the last 10 yrs, averaged 1 meet a year, no more than 4 months training in any one year. So- been back in water 4 weeks, 2-3 times a week and mostly feeling like chopped liver. Monday night coach say we're going to do dive 25's (meters) from blocks, starter's instructions. Now I haven't done this in years 'cause I have a very bad neck- but I've been frustrated so...did all 3 breastroke 16.3, 15.5, 16.2 which tells me I've still got prospects to go fast again! I am pleased.

Allen- what a stud you are! Awesome splitting; it is obvious that you'll have to go through the same training for each big race. Attaboy!
Way to go Allen!!:wine: Awsome swim!!!:applaud: Sometimes when you just go and do it and not worry so much about it, things work out the way they should have anyway.:bouncing:
Way to go Allen. I'm glad you weren't a hypocrit! I figure we'll never be 100% when we swim anyway. Really fine swim!
Tons of great performances. Must say that Mollie/SwimmieAvsFan is a national champ in the 200 free, maybe in the 200 back today. She also put together a blazing fast 100 free, dropping 3 seconds from zones, as I recall!
Dana/Imspoiled had a super fast 50 ***. Haven't check her other times yet.
Jaegermeister did a PB in his 50 back.
some_girl did a speedy 100 fly, which looked like a PB.
I'm sure the list of great swims is very, very long. Congrats to all! Where's SeaGurl's report?! And all the gossip?
While I am not swimming at Nats, I am watching the VA State LC Champs at my pool (no workouts for me this weekend). Happy to report I've got a little state champion evilstroker.
I did NOT want to swim the 200 breaststroke today. Not only was I not completely recovered from my much whined about shoulder problem, but I had a GI virus for 3 days just before the meet. I was a little disappointed with my 50 time and when I woke up this morning feeling stiff sore and a little sick at my stomach I thought"why go and just embarrass yourself by swimming poorly." Then I thought "you hypocrite, you just posted that there is nothing to be embarrassed about in swimming performance." I decided to just swim it and just focus on being smooth and not worry about my time or my competitors. Before I got hurt my goal was to beat my personal age group best of 2:32.0.For me a perfectly split 200 in 2:32 would be 35,39,39,39.I figured that was out of the question so I just wanted to swim smoothly and split evenly. My splits today were-
35.03,39.05,39.15,38.59 for a 2:31.82.:groovy: :groovy: :groovy:
I need to book into the "Allen Stark 200 Breaststroke" clinic so I can get my splits nice and steady like that!
Great Swim Allen!:applaud:
I broke 1.10 in the 100 fly and .30 in the 50 fly, though the latter is showing up as NS. (They can't DQ you without telling you, can they?) That is my Nats glory.
Congrats and attaeveryone at SCChamps! Attagirl to the little Evilstroker, who is obviously the smartest one in her family (or maybe her mom will smarten up, get the point, and take up the beautiful stroke anew).

Attagoirl! SG...Coming to Westport 2nd.
Thanks to everyone. Yea for Lil.Fort.:cheerleader: :cheerleader: :cheerleader:
Thanks Allen. I saw you did very well in your other breaststroke events too -- especially for someone as injury/illness prone as you these last few months! But what about the even eviler butterfrog? Gave that a pass? Good choice. ;)
Congrats to all at Nats. The meet looked smoking fast. My own age group, the 45-49 year old ladies, put me to shame.
Congrats to Poolraat for 2 PBs and lots of fine swims. Congrats to Dana/Imspoiled for some more great 50s! Congrats to Muppet and his lady for a great meet! Congrats to Fearless Leader and Webmaster too!
