I thought I'd try an experiment here. I propose that anyone of any swimming level can use this thread (or not) when, whether in a small way or earthshaking manner you've done something in the pool that you're proud and/or pleased by. Anyone is welcome to add encouraging comments (or not) or ask for more info., but please no grandstanding or feuding.
Okay- I'll go first (and I'm just as hesitant as anyone else). Context: last few months hellish: collapse of my dream business, death in family, huge money troubles etc. result months out of water & exercise & 30lb gain. Further, I just went back over the last 10 yrs, averaged 1 meet a year, no more than 4 months training in any one year. So- been back in water 4 weeks, 2-3 times a week and mostly feeling like chopped liver. Monday night coach say we're going to do dive 25's (meters) from blocks, starter's instructions. Now I haven't done this in years 'cause I have a very bad neck- but I've been frustrated so...did all 3 breastroke 16.3, 15.5, 16.2 which tells me I've still got prospects to go fast again! I am pleased.
I'll second that! :...and don't forget about Carrie....she did pretty well too I believe. :applaud:

That's right! Our resident Spiderman had a great 100 free among other things. Way to go, Feisty!
I'm giving a big ATTAGIRL to my FAF Sistas, Swimr4Life and FlyQueen for having such great meets this weekend!!!! Yay!!!
:groovy:  :woot:   :smooch:

BTW Peter, What happened to the I use Seagulls as toothpicks signature?....I guess its now blowing in the wind too eh?
I had a meet today and the first two events were the 400 IM and 500 free. I decided to swim both. I'm happy to report I did not, in fact, die during the 500 free :) Actually the 500 went well. I wanted to take it out nice and easy and build up if I still had the energy. I ended up negative splitting it by 2.5 seconds with my last 100 being faster than my first 100!
Way to go, Leslie. Get some rest.
I'm trying to rest, but chess is so stressful when you're not an expert like the Bork.
I have a heavy night of TV watching ahead later, I think. Rome and The Tudors are on HBO tonight.
I should give an attagirl to Julie too while I'm typing. She was at the meet and swam tremendously, rounding trouncing me in the 100 back and looking like a superstar in the 400 IM.
Congrats to Kirk on negative splitting a 500 and coming home faster than you took it out
Thanks!
congrats to Mollie! I could never in a million years kick a 100 that fast!
I could. Of course I'd need fins! :)

HA HA! I was going to give myself an attagirl for that 400 IM yesterday. You saw that? My arms nearly fell off in the 100 fly, but I think I rebounded pretty well and it only took me until the middle of *** to catch the person in the lane next to me who crushed me in the first 100 by 17 seconds. I would have been in BIG trouble if I had to out sprint someone to the finish. Good times.....400 IM is always good times. I'm skipping it at zones since it's right before the 100 back.
I'm actually going to taper for colonies zones. I talked to Cheryl (GMUP coach) at practice today about it because I just don't trust myself to back off enough. I have a new open water training buddy and I ended up doing 31,000 last week. We've known about each other for years but never really connected about swimming together. We're both recovering from some running injuries so this summer looks like a good summer to focus on swimming. It's been fun! Oh, speaking of practice today, we ended up doing a set focused around the 400 IM. Good thing all three of us who did the 400 IM last night showed up for practice. I was less than thrilled, but suffered through it...even the fly.
Everyone did awesome at the meet yesterday. Muppet & SwimmieAvsFan were there and it was SO much fun to watch them race!!!!
Fort, did you tell them about your meet records. FORT ROCKS!!!!! AND it's taper time for Colonies Zones. Who else is excited?!?!?!
(BTW it is fine to inform on good performances of other forum regulars in this thread. I have decided.)
If Fort is going to talk about my 400 IM and 100 Back, YES I'm going to let you guys know about her meet records. She CRUSHED the records!!!!!
ATTAGIRL, FORT!!!!!!
Congrats to Kirk on negative splitting a 500 and coming home faster than you took it out (I'm sure that I have never come anywhere close to doing that one before LOL!)...congrats to Mollie! I could never in a million years kick a 100 that fast!....And also congrats to Fort for going 29.1 in a 50 SCM free. That converts to a 26 flat in SCY according to the following conversion utility:

Thats a fantastic time Fortissimo! ...especially considering you've been plagued with shoulder problems and such and having the 30 shots and what not!
And of course congrats to FlyQueen for her fast fly swims and Carrie for her fast 100 free. Its great to hear how well everyone is doing. I will be anxious to here how poolraat and Richie Rich both did this weekend.
A small accomplishment for me. I had a pretty nice workout today (about 2500 meters with some mini-sprints and work on turns and such)...and I was able to get a MWF workout regiment set up today with an old swimming buddy. The only downside is that we will be working out at 5:45 in the morning on each of those days (so we'll see how long that one lasts LOL!). If I can work in a couple of spin classes in between and some weight training on Tues/Thurs...(and some mixed corss training and swimming in on Sat and Sun), then I might actually lose some weight between now and when I have to step up tp the plate and actually compete again sometime in the Fall. It sounds pretty good right now in theory ..... so we'll just have to wait and see.
