I thought I'd try an experiment here. I propose that anyone of any swimming level can use this thread (or not) when, whether in a small way or earthshaking manner you've done something in the pool that you're proud and/or pleased by. Anyone is welcome to add encouraging comments (or not) or ask for more info., but please no grandstanding or feuding. Okay- I'll go first (and I'm just as hesitant as anyone else). Context: last few months hellish: collapse of my dream business, death in family, huge money troubles etc. result months out of water & exercise & 30lb gain. Further, I just went back over the last 10 yrs, averaged 1 meet a year, no more than 4 months training in any one year. So- been back in water 4 weeks, 2-3 times a week and mostly feeling like chopped liver. Monday night coach say we're going to do dive 25's (meters) from blocks, starter's instructions. Now I haven't done this in years 'cause I have a very bad neck- but I've been frustrated so...did all 3 breastroke 16.3, 15.5, 16.2 which tells me I've still got prospects to go fast again! I am pleased.
  • O.k. Maybe this qualifies me for a semi-attaboy (although its not much....but maybe its a start)? I went to my first spin class tonight in over a year and I didn't do that bad.....I actually made it through the entire 45 minutes without stopping....and then I stayed after the spin class to do both the ab workout that followed as welll as the free-weight workout after that....then I swam for about 30-40 minutes to stretch out my stroke. I wieghed myself afterwards and it turns out that I am about 5 - 10 pounds lighter than what I expected to see. I am hoping to get back into the spin class thing more regularly now. The new thread on spin classes got me to thinking about how the spin classes probably had as much to do with my weight loss a couple of years back as the swimming did. Anyway, I hope it works for me again?....Wish me luck! Newmastersswimmer Definitely qualifies as an attaboy! Great job! Great day of workouts! I have been thinking the same thing about spinning. That I should do more of it to supplement the swimming since I can't swim 24/7. Or run 24/7. Tomorrow, I'm going to lift, bike, swim. Same as you. Julie: I sent in my form for Albatross. It's in the afternoon, unlike Chinn, so it's safe to say I will show up. Don't know how I'll do. We'll see. I only entered three events because I hate the order of events and I'm not doing no 200 fly. :thhbbb: You and William and maybe Muppet can have fun with that. Maybe you should advance to the 200 back?

Is anyone going to the post-meet social? I didn't even see that on the registration form until the other day.
  • I have nothing to ATTAGIRL about as yet, my 350 yd fly challenge training doesn't start until next Monday, the 19th. You are officially a STUD!!! 350 fly?!?!?
  • I think we need to keep Stud for the guys Studmuffin can be for the ladies. Donna is a Studmuffin lol Fair enough. Just don't call me an Iron-Woman, people try to do that all the time. Ironman is just fine with me ;) Iron-Girl is even ok, but Iron-Woman just sounds strange to me. Ok, off to the pool to practice fly so that I can keep up with Donna and try to be as Studmuffinly as her.

Okay, y'all have convinced me to go back to spinning class. I did it years ago, but could stay with it due to my work schedule. I going to start next Wednesday (I'm in taper for a race this weekend). I plan to still swim my part of my workout (approx 1500m) immediately prior. Is that too much? I want to keep my Mon-Wed-Fri swim and Tue-Thur run schedule and just add the spinning on top.
