I thought I'd begin a thread where people can share their
Swimming Prank Stories.
Sometimes swimmers start pulling pranks on each other, guess that's because swimmers tend to be playful, fun loving, reckless, ...
I'm sure a few of us have some wonderful stories to share about swimming pranks as either the puller, victim, observer or story reteller.
This is your place to share
you can change the names to protect the guilty
they can be as simple as
waiting for a lane mate to dive in,
then right after they jump,
you grab their ankles and throw them to the side which messes up their dive
some stories are a series, of
prank 1
revenge prank 1
retalliation prank 2 ...
they can be in or out of the pool
I need a laugh, I look forward to reading yours.

We were in the High School pool office and found the starter's pistol. So, of course, we loaded it and had one of the swimmers go flying out the door screaming. Then, I jumped out and popped a couple of shots at him. (Yes, this was before school shootings became the norm). The best part was one of the football linemen was sitting on the floor leaning up against the lockers (half asleep) with his girlfriend right next to him. He still comments on how scared he was when that happened (which was over 20 years ago).

This got me thinking about all the things that we did as kids that were just considered pranks, that now would land us in the slammer for a long time.
Can you imagine the lawsuit today?

We had "Atomic Balm" at our High school. Fortunately no one put it in a swimsuit, but we discovered it was MUCH hotter if applied just before getting wet. Kids would sneak a handful into the pool area and then slap you on the back just before you dived in.Thats what we thought was great fun at the time.
In high school we had a waterpolo match between the swimmers and the wrestlers. Since it would be essentially a"no holds barred"match the wrestlers thought they would have an advantage especially in the shallow end. We defended the deep end and soon no wrestler even tried to enter water over his head. Their seeming advantage in the shallow end was more than made up for by the fact that since they were a very large team and it was early in the season they didn't know each other well yet. Very soon one of our swimmers had volunteered to be their goally. He did a really bad job:rofl:
My club used to see how many of the young kids they could fit inside a single swimming cap that they'd slowly stretched out to enormous size in the pool.
Anyway, it started off as a prank to waste time but became so well known that members of my team even made it onto national TV doing it.
Not really a prank but...
At junior school in the UK (7-10) we had our own shallow indoor pool (quite progressive for the 70's).
We used to change in a wooden hut next door and and have to run 10ft into the pool in our speedos (or leopard spot "Tarzan" trunks).
The hut was basically divided in two with a partition. Girls on one side boys on other. Someone found a peep-hole... (it wasn't me)
hehehe I just remembered that b/c I'm trying to think of swim pranks from childhood.
Can you imagine the lawsuit today?
