here you go, the thread you've been waiting for SWIM RANT RANT to your hearts content about aspects of SWIMMING and SWIMMERS that bug YOU I encourage you to be good natured and hilarious you may find it cathartic Ande
  • Swimmers who constantly gripe about event orders. Pssssssssht! You're right -- why gripe when you can just boycott the event? No one would could possibly defend this as an acceptable championship meet line up for sprinters or fly-backers: Colonies Zones: Session #1 – Sat AM Dec 5 Warm-Up 8:00AM Start 9:00AM #1 Women 400 SCM Freestyle #2 Mixed 400 SCM Medley Relay #3 Mixed 200 SCM Breaststroke #4 Mixed 50 SCM Backstroke #5 Mixed 100 SCM Butterfly #6 Mixed 100 SCM Freestyle #7 Mixed 50 SCM Breaststroke #8 Mixed 200 SCM Backstroke #9 Mixed 100 SCM Individual Medley #10 Men 200 SCM Freestyle Relay #11 Women 200 SCM Freestyle Relay #12 Mixed 200 SCM Freestyle Relay Session #2 – Sat PM Dec 5 Warm-Up ONE hour AFTER AM session concludes #13 Mixed 800 SCM Freestyle Relay #14 Mixed 400 SCM Individual Medley #15 Mixed 800 SCM Freestyle * #16 Mixed 1500 SCM Freestyle * Session #3 – Sun AM Dec 6 Warm-Up 9:00AM Start 10:00AM #17 Men 400 SCM Freestyle #18 Mixed 400 SCM Freestyle Relay #19 Mixed 200 SCM Butterfly #20 Mixed 100 SCM Breaststroke #21 Mixed 50 SCM Freestyle #22 Mixed 200 SCM Individual Medley #23 Mixed 100 SCM Backstroke #24 Mixed 50 SCM Butterfly #25 Mixed 200 SCM Freestyle #26 Men 200 SCM Medley Relay #27 Women 200 SCM Medley Relay #28 Mixed 200 SCM Medley Relay I like to support CZ meets, but I think I'm passing on this one and going to a different meet where the discrimination against fly-backers is slightly more minimized. :) But you have fun swimming the 100 free-50 *** and 100 ***-50 free back to back!
  • I already addressed your retort... See you in Boston... :p I see ... you like to brag about theoretically being virile enough to swim back-to-back events but go to meets where you're not forced to ... Niiiice! 50 evil rematch in Boston after I smoke you at the Sprint Classic?
  • Colonies Zones: Hypothetically, if I were to enter this meet, I would go with the 100 fly, 200 back, 400 im, 200 fly, 100 back, and the 50 fly directly after the 100 back. Doing a 50 shortly after something else doesn't bother me too much. Whether I'm tired or not, I still don't know how to sprint! Oh wait, I'm supposed to be ranting in this thread... ok, I hired this smiley to do it for me: :bitching:

But you have fun swimming the 100 free-50 *** and 100 ***-50 free back to back! I already addressed your retort... Real swimmers, AKA Breaststrokers, are strong and talented enough to handle back to back on several events... See you in Boston... :p

Trouble recognizing lane-mates in street clothes
  • Trouble recognizing lane-mates in street clothes  The other night we held our Annual Team Meeting. A "young masters" swimmer (so no excuse) did not recognize our head coach sitting right next to him! No sunglasses or hat - coaches disguise...

I have a hard time dealing with tri-athletes who are tech ridden and show up with every device known to man to swim with, including a buffet of hydrate drinks. Then they dive in and have the most unorthodox freestyle known to man.

In 1964 my wife and I were walking through the Eastgate Shopping Center in Hamilton Ontario. A beautiful lady walked up to me and said "Hi George". I did not recognize her, I asked where do I know you from. She said she was taking swimming lessons from me. I said "Oh - I'm sorry I didn't recognize you with your clothes on."

At least you didn't say, "You look so much better with clothes on" :)
