Just watched the Tour de France on TV the druggies are back at it again.

I read somewhere that a lot of teams were eliminated prior to the start. All 185 riders now participating were tested before the begining and are clean so far. It seems they might get it right this time. I am not into the Tour thing, but have been reading about it. billy fanstone.
Unless you want to consider some EPO during his bout with cancer, or take the word of the french magazine as the truth, that he tested positive in 1999, okay. But from then on he was the most tested rider ever on the Tour. The EPO that he took or might have taken in 1996 would have lasted as an enhancing factor the most two months (your blood count comes down pretty fast once the EPO does what it has to do, it is used mostly in Jehovah's Witness as a a preop and on certain renal diseases and/or certain cancers). So you might say that the last 6 tours were clean...he is gooooood! billy fanstone.

Not to be crass, but this has to be one of the most moronic statements I have seen on here in a long time. I am sure it was meant to be a sarcastic statement, but think about what you are saying here. Why not look at the fact that he has never tested positive for EPO, your beloved Canadian transplant Ben Johnson did test positive for banned substances and rightfully had his medal stripped from him.
I don't care about conjecture, hypothesis, or conspiracy theories, facts are facts. Armstrong was never found to test positive for anything, Johnson was. If Armstrong had been found guilty legitimately then he should have been disqualified and discredited, but he wasn't. I refuse to believe by some Frog press that has a vendetta against a Yank who has won their precious race 7 times in a row after surviving testicular cancer to boot.
To say something like "I hope they would let them kill themselves" is just plain ridiculous.
I actually believe that everyone should be allowed to use anything they want to enhance their ability and I do not think it should be regulated one way or the other. But anyone who uses should suffer the consequences of their actions. I really don't want anyone to be hurt but... The real fact is we will we never be able to catch all the users because there are always new ways to cover up usage.
Lance never tested positive during his racing career. However, it is my understanding that a reliable assay for epogen did not exist at the time his samples were frozen. That having been said, I believe they were stored solely for research purposes and were not to be used in a punitive manner.
Sam:
I couldn't agree with you more. Lance has been the most tested biker in the last 5 years and he has never tested positive for any wrongdoing. He has been accused of doing EPO back in 1999 but was cleared in an investigation which *** Pound of the WADA has issues with. Where that investigation goes is anybodys guess. I think that now that he is retired from the Tour that its pointless to go back and spend $ on and investigation that was shakey to begin with. All the testimonials are on the Lance Armstrong thread from 3 months ago.
George:
I am sorry if this will cause controversy but is the Canadian that you are talking about Ben Johnson. The reason I ask is because I remember reading about this coverup by the USOC involving track and field athletes. I remember that Carl Lewis and many others were named but nothing was ever proved or substantiated. I think it appeared as a news story ten years after the fact.
Of course the way the IOC works is if you are not caught after the competition on the spot and clear the test than you are free and can never be declared a drug cheat. Every one knows that thru athletic history that people have gotten away with being drug cheats and passed the IOC tests.
What's sad is this is still going on. I have been following the sad tale of Grimsley and wondering when if ever its going to stop.
Let us forget drug users of the past. Give the medals back to the users. Don't take anything away from any one who is retired. I know one Canadian who would love to get his medal back from another user who did not get caught. I hate people that take anything under false pretenses.
