I posted the following as part of a response in another thread, but that thread appears to have moved on to a different topic. So, I'm posting the information and question here, along with a poll.
We've heard a lot of discussion recently about a cover photo a few people on the forums don't like, but it would also be helpful to hear what people like.
USMS has published just eight issues since starting the magazine, and partial contents from back issues of the magazine may be found at:
www.usmsswimmer.com
So, what's your favorite cover?
By the way, the magazine staff receives and reviews ideas all year round. In addition, USMS has one big annual planning meeting each June to plan the following year's editorial calendar. SWIMMER receives a lot of completed manuscripts, but an outline or short synopsis is preferred. Writers who wish to be considered for future assignments are invited to send a published writing sample.
If you have ideas, thoughts, suggestions, or Letters to the Editor, please send them to:

Bill- I, of course, will not post in the poll since I am one of the forums' international kibbitzers & not a member. Should you wish a more sophisticated viewpoint than what you would receive from some of your subscribers (i.e. those from North Carolina) you are welcome to forward copies of the covers to my email address and I will rate them for both swimming and prurient appeal.
Hi Peter,
You can view the covers by going to:
www.usmsswimmer.com
Click on "Back Issues" - each month has a thumbnail photo of the cover.
It's OK for you to vote if you'd like. It's not a members-only poll.

I recall that the cover of the January/February 2006 issue featured a beautiful "Cool Blue" underwater picture and the accompanying article also had several colorful pics too.
That cover (and its related article) is such an eloquent symbol of the aquaious world we swimmers live and play in.
Happy Swimming!

How about asking a USMS member who is a good artist to come up with an original painting or such as a cover. Probably not much $ in it, but with the size of our membership, surely someone with some talent would like the "glory." Of course, it really SHOULD be on an open water theme...
