OK, I'm persuaded by Peter Cruise's discussion of Canadian beer and have decided to forego swimming at USMS Nationals this year. Instead, I'm off to Calgary to try the Canadian Nationals.
So here's the challenge to all you Canadian Forum users: where are the good local brews in Calgary? By local, I mean that it can't cross Province lines & doesn't come in cans.
I'm staying near the pool & won't be driving. So, I need some suggested locations within staggering (er, walking) distance of the hotel.
If some swimming gets done that's fine, but I'd like to come home with a good beer experience. Right now I'm starting my beer taper (nothing but 3.2 in very quick shots - the high intensity, low volume theory) until the Champs.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Labbats 50 or Ipa, sorry No more Dow beer it killed a bunch of people in Montreal back in the 60s. They were one of my sponsors until they put out the bad brew. Here is a story about Dow beer blork.typepad.com/.../shaddap_im_tire.html
No, no, Mel- good Canadian beer comes from British Columbia, not Alberta. You may find Okanagan Springs (many different varieties) or even better, Black Bear Ale from the Kootenays available in Calgary. Too bad I'm on the shelf right now or I'd introduce you to them personally. You may find Calgary too low in altitude for you though.

... just ignore this thread & get back to noodling.
My worst fears realized, ridiculed by Canadians and rightly so! See, no good can come over having noodling on the cover of our magazine.
I thought that the pub crawl was much more attractive than Mark Gill's comment about there being a bar & tennis court near the Coral Springs pool. I wonder what they will be serving?
I'm looking forward to crawling around Calgary after/between swims.

"ay carumba" translates loosely into Canadian as "Right on, eh?", which is then usually followed by the request "You'll take loonies at par for a Kokanee, eh what?"
We have a lot of experience with the pasty northern foreigners in this neck of the woods.
Mel,
You can crawl all you want around Canada. At Coral Springs, I am willing to walk the necessary 50 feet to get to the bar after each of my swims. There will be several beers on tap as well as a selection of wines.
Hope you have a fun meet. I know we will.
