i didnt swim for a couple of days but after one day in the water my shoulders start to trouble again its like constant/dull pain all day long but not when i raise my arm above head ( that is an "uncomftorable" position) but when my arms are close to my body it just wont go away it feels a bit like the burn from overtraining but i dont think so i even find my self in the water avoiding to put my hand above head. the ONLY position where i feel NO worry at all is flat on the back kicking(my hands beside me) and i dont even try to swim frontcrawl SUCKS
  • Dorothyrde is right. You may need to seek a doctor's advice before you do anything else! You don't want to do permanent damage to your shoulder. Payydro, I'm not a doctor but, I have had shoulder problems simillar to what you describe! It sounds like you have a muscle imbalance. Go to the USA Swimming site and search for shoulder exercises. They have some great ones on this site! I wish I had the link. These exercises strengthen the rotator cuff muscles in your shoulder that help hold your shoulder together in the right position. BUT....don't do these until you get checked out by a doctor. He may send you to physical therapy.....well worth the time to learn what is wrong and how to fix it before it becomes something chronic and permanent!

for the LINK i guess i will have to go to the doctor if i want to continue swimming but the thing that bugs be the most is that i havent been spending emough time in thepool to learn frontcrawl so how can this be? its been so shortand now that i have swiched almost only to kicking it still persists i feel like my shoulder/s burn what about other strokes? does breaststroke works the shoulder/body muscles in the same/similiar way? backstroke?

OK im going to see a doctor in as soon as posible this shoulder/s really BURN Im so frustrated... i havent even got to the point that i did a good normal swim. im just warming up and this has hapend. it probably has something to do with the fact that i havent been walkin mucg in the last few months due to a leg injury. I mean aalost none walking. Thats why i sit a lot and lay down a lot so i think this is the prob. Just when i think the pain is a bit gone , the next morning when i wake up it hurts like hell but what is strange to me is that it does not hurt AT ALL whiloe i swim?!? I mean i feel stiffnes in the water a bit and tension but not as close like when out of water all day long. Its a dull/ache burn for a long time. anyway doctor is waiting for me fo' sho':(
