I am considering purchasing Speedo jammers but I am accustomed to the brief style. I need feedback on the benefits of jammers. My main concern is that jammers will pinch my legs at the base. I mean people do have different leg girths I imagine. Please give me any good and bad opinions of jammers before I plop any money down on them.

I like the longer baggy shorts. They are much more comfortable. Plus, the longer board shorts prevent surf wax from getting stuck in your leg hairs while you are sitting on the board waiting for the next set.

Thanks. That's going to have to be my next stop. I lost my suits recently so I haven't been able to get in the water.

It remains a mystery to me. Not sure if someone was jealous of my drag suit/speedo combo at the YMCA so they thought it'd work for them. Or my 2 year old got in my bag and fell in love with the chlorinated smell so she hid my suits somewhere.
Either way, I've searched and not been able to find my suits.

I'm on the side of old school speedo with a drag suit combination. (though in 1993-4 used a body suit like a girlie girl
I think really the debate of brief style vs. jammers, is purely esthetic. So if you like the look of jammers, then go for it. If you don't have an issue with the brief style, enjoy.
I have not seen any study that the $35 Jammer you find in the average swim shop with have any affect on your speed.
In fact I was frustrated the past week in looking for a regular black (or basic design) speedo and drag suit, was not able to find it at two swim shops. :( Only jammers or really ugly suits.

I currently live in Corpus Christi. We only wear a wetsuit 3 months out of the year down here. The surf isn't that great, as it is mostly short interval wind swell, but it is consistent in that Corpus Christi is the windiest city in the US. You just need to hide behind some jettis when it gets real windy. Before anyone asks, Chicago's not in the top 10. Chicago's nickname was derived from the hot air being blown by the politicians boasting to get the world's fair.
I also used to live in SD. The summer months allow you to trunk it.

I personly prefer jammers. They are comfortable and great looking. I wear Reebok Mens Silver Splice Jammer swim Suits. I have 10. Speedo Briefs are horribly discusting looking. However I do have wierd habit. Normally when I'm not swimming I wear a pair anyway. They feel great. At home I don't wear pants. i wear the jammers. Wierd Eh?
