I am considering purchasing Speedo jammers but I am accustomed to the brief style. I need feedback on the benefits of jammers. My main concern is that jammers will pinch my legs at the base. I mean people do have different leg girths I imagine. Please give me any good and bad opinions of jammers before I plop any money down on them.
NO, I am not a metrosexual. You crack me up. I only asked that because jammers are such a new thing and the traditional brief noever seemed to pose a problem until jammers came out. I guess I was thinking out loud. Besides, my original question was to give your opinion on jammers vs traditional briefs. I am concerned with the potential of having the jammer legs cut into my thighs. I really haven't heard any of the benefits of jammers.

Thanks Bob,
That was my point. Sure Micheal Phelps can afford the $30,000 jammers. hell, speedo gives them to him! Everyday Jammers just seem impractical and uncomfortable.

Excuse me Mr. Rupple,
I don't mean to be a major butinski here (although I am Polish har har)......But I think Knelson's comment about being "possibly" a Metrosexual was directed at someone else (other than you) in this thread....(or maybe I am misreading something here??).....Anyway, I took that comment in a joking fashion anyway....afterall the term "Metrosexual" doesn't actually imply anything about a person's sexual preferences (or at least I don't think they do)....In fact, I am fully hetero (allthough who cares what sexual orientation we are anyway??...I know for one that it means nothing to me what orientation any of y'all are)....BUT I am working on trying to incorporate more "personal habbits" that are considered more "sterotypically" of the metrosexual variety........One possible advantage for this is based on my admittedly somewhat "limitted knowledge" of the more feminine gender....Which tells me that women prefer these more metrosexual type habbits over the more "stereotypical" cave man habbits of a macho/slob type of guy anyway.......but just for the record.....It wouldn't be a bad idea to trim your nose hair and shave more often for example...(maybe constantly trimming your fingernails would be a little excessive though?)....maybe a little less scratching of your crotch in public and public flatulant explosions....you know ...things like that.

Are we talking about fabric and cost, or are we talking about style of bathing suit? I don't get it.
Anyone who thinks that briefs look better than jammers is out of their minds. I hated briefs when I was in high school (20 years ago) and was extremely happy to buy my first pair of jammers. If you think that jammers look dorky you might be right, but briefs are the (pardon the expression) gayest looking piece of clothing I've ever seen (or worn) in my life. The only people who look even half way decent in briefs are people with great abs and great thighs. One of which, I am not.
If you really think briefs are faster... I don't know what to say to you. I've got hair on my legs. Not tons, but enough to cause drag. The extra bit of drag a jammer may have is negated by the extra drag my leg hair would cause when exposed by a brief.
Binding? I've had some really bad rashes with briefs. I've had no problems with my jammers. They're as comfortable as comfortable can be (though, as I said, the fastskins are tight at the knee). If you don't like the way they fit - don't wear them. That goes for any clothing.
It sounds like some people in this thread want someone to say that jammers are faster so you can argue with them. Fine then: Given the hair on your legs, jammers are faster than briefs. Otherwise the difference is negligible, and I'll bet hard-cash that you'll notice no quantifiable difference in your time in an actual race.

This thread is quite entertaining! Americans tend to be much more uptight about their swimwear that other nationalities and that might be the explanation of why so many American swimmers seem to wear them. Whether the benefit of increased coverage is real or perceived does not really matter, the Jammer seems to be the choice of the more modest crowd of which I happen to be a member of. Wearing a Jammer makes me feel good in and out of the water and that is what really matters, right?

I'm having fun with it. :D
When it comes to fasion, women are downright mean. That's why they don't debate fasion.
BTW: Just got the new speedo thong. That should knock a few seconds of my 200 IM time. ;)

Jammers look cute on the guys!

Thanks for your opinions. it seems, that although the majority, wears jammers, the traditional seems more efficient. Thinks for the links to the trainers. I have a box cut speedo, but it pinches my thighs, and it doesn't feel as good as a speedo brief. Do you think jammers are more popular because most guys were boxer underwear? I understadn the modesty factor to a degree, but there is still a bulge there. And besides, you're in the water 99 percent of the time anyway.
