You know you're swimming in the South when...

...a large group of (large) people file into the YMCA pool area on a Sunday afternoon and fill the bleachers, not to watch me finish my set, but to conduct a baptism. They stayed away from the lap swimmers.

...names such as Bussard, Trembley, Edgar, Vogel, Coan and Stewart conjure up fond memories of Orange sunsets, Smokey Hills, snowruns as well as hunting trips for elephants, tigers, eagles, gators, 'cats and dawgs2, rebels and commies. I long for the taste of true sweet tea and apple fritters as big as your head.

I had to buy special degreaser shampoo the last time I worked out in Galveston Bay. I haven't had to use a moisturizer in 6 months! On the bright side, I really slip through the water these days. That's hillarious!! I think you may be on to something though....If we could just figure out a way to bottle some of Galveston bay and purchase it as the newest hydrodynamic lotion on the market.....guaranteed to make you slip thru the water faster than ever before....we could get rich!!....I'm sure you could take care of all the legal issues (how to dodge the 10000000 or so known harmful byproducts ect....). newmastersswimmer

Half the swimmers on your team think that a fifth of Jack Daniels makes an excellent post workout sports beverage.

We may have a few oil slicks to deal with but not 2 feet of snow. I am heading to the Bay to see if I can bottle some "slick" so we can start our new business. If W gets elected we won't have any "legal issues" to deal with; if Kerry gets elected, we won't have any reason to go into business. Choose your poison, my friend.

Unfortunately, voting for me (as long as I can remember) has "almost" always been about voting for the candidate that I hated the least ....(I haven't actually liked any candidates running for any office in a LONG time....the last one that I voted for b/c I liked her was Anne Richards against W in the Tx gubinatorial race....look how far that got me!!) newmastersswimmer

I hope you don't put me out of business I have been selling speedo grease for many a year... SPEEDO GREASE.... Jimmy Tompson my coach told me when I was ten years old all about SPEEDO GREASE. We were at a swimming meet in Dundas a town 7 miles from our home town Hamilton, I was ten, my brother Thurlow was 12 and two other guys from our club were also 12. The team from Dundas were at the end of the age group for the under 14 relay and appeared to be giants. Our team was very nervous. Our coach said "Don't worry boys we'll do fine we have SPEEDO GREASE". I have been selling this product ever since. George www.swimdownhill.com

lol, that sounds like the 'Monster-Be-Gone' aerosol spray my daughter bought to use when the grandchildren were little... just a spray or two under the bed, in the closet and up the chimney worked wonders.

The first time someone lights up near it, they will really LIGHT UP. (something about the hydrocarbons?) So I couldn't afford the insurance. The EPA would also probably have a few questions for me.

  • Hey Robyn! I miss you! My comment definitely wasn't directed to you! Like the old southern saying...I am a southerner by birth, you are a southerner by the grace of God!:D I wish we had pools for every High School in the south! The north definitely has an advantage over us in that area! Believe it or not, I've had my hair freeze after swimming here too!
