Yeah I was trying to do some editing and there it went! I thought it was quite humerous and figured no one would really mind. All of the passionate emotions poured into 16 pages only to go up in smoke just like that (villanous laugh Huu - ahh -haa haa). But really I did not expect the whole thread to be deleted, though it did say in bold: "This will cause the whole thread to be deleted," I guess I just didn't interpret that correctly.
Seriously, sorry folks, that was me, it was an accident. What I am so upset about is that I have now started the two longest threads on the forum - the Matt Biondi flash in the pan, and the VO2 max thread, but will only be able to claim credit for one. Oh well.
And Jim, when I saw that you were being blamed I would have been quick to step up. However this past summer you disabled my access to the website for calling ION an old dog. So I guess you could say that I am glad that you came on here to defend yourself because that means it bothered you! Revenge exacted!
PS: All of this is a joke. and ION certianly isn't an old dog in my book. I appreciate him for his passion and am glad that he chooses to participate!
Nice job, Sparx! Rule Britannia! It was nice while it lasted. But, time to discuss something else.
On a completely different topic, and not related to swimming, I wish to share one of the photos I received of the farewell flight of the Concorde, being escorted by the Royal Air Force. Thought that you and everyone else would enjoy it.
Cheers from across the pond.
Very cool picture Mark. I remember reading an article in the Times that the most Concordes were going to grounded. Have all of them been grounded? I hope not, because that was number 16 on the 25 things I want to do in life (fly from NY to London via concorde with my wife).
Lefty: You will have to find a new number 16 on your life list.
There are no more Concorde flights. the last one was a flight to Bristol, England. This is where a Concorde will be displayed at Finton, nr Bristol, where they were made.
That is a great photo. Thanks, mark ! ;)
I'll tell you what I am fed up with: moderators that think they should be parental and delete entire threads, I guess because I might be offended and because I am unable to chose to read or not read. And this is supposed to be a forum for adult swimmers?
Sorry, the snake in the grass is not Ion, but sanctimonious but silent oligarchs of the web.
I have enjoyed my several years participating here, but I am out of here.
See you all at meets and practices and social beers. Bye.
The pic was indeed the last flight to Bristol. Gareth, you are welcome for the pic. I have six more, can e-mail them to you if you wish. All of them have the RAF planes.
If I am not mistaken, I believe that the Smithsonian Institution, here in Washington, D.C., will be preserving one of the Concordes. I only saw (and HEARD) it take off once and it was here in Baltimore. One word to describe it: awesome (and a word not to decribe my swimming).
I'm outta here.
