I and about 70 other members of our team will do 75x100yds on Christmas Eve. About 13 of us will be doing them on 1:20. That's OK, you can be jealous! Happy Chanuka and Merry Christmas!

Well, anyone going to swim some of those 100's at 1:20 swimming breaststroke. All those 100's at our age just makes one very tired and sore. I'm doing something around 2,500 or so yards. Its easier for me to maintain more speed than doing something around 4,000 to 7,500 like certain clubs like to do for the holidays.

I'm doing a 'double' tomorrow. One in the morning, the other at noon. (my usual evening practice is off tomorrow) probably around 5000-6000 M We'll probably be in the LCM pool tomorrow. ;)

Not to be a one up man...but we swam 100 X 100 LCM a few years ago on New Year morning....on 1:45 if I remember right....I held them until 40 or so then blended them together until 65 or so then held them until the last one....I was in shape then....Looking back....life was good then...

Well Tom, that is what we will be doing on New Years Eve, too (the 100x100, that is). Unfortunately, we can't do it LCM anymore . . . so it has to be SCY. Yes, Cynthia, it does make you sore. I might do some of them backstroke for a little variety. Breaststroke is not at option :( and you're right, not much speed in these sets, aerobic only.

yep, made my early swim, needed it too, really get bogged down with food and no excercise this time of year, just hope 3000metres i did in total was enough to combat all that food..and theres people starving in the world too...just been for a walk to pack down that food too!!

Phil, Tom et al, You guys are just amazing! Having spent a few months in San Fran during the summer, I got a feel for your 'swimming mentality'. On one occasion, it was one swimmer's 30th birthday ... what did the coach get us doing? 30x100 (SCY), starting on 1m 30s, then reducing by 5 seconds after every group of 6. So, yes, the last 6 were going on 1m10s .... oh yes, and the coach also brought along a bottle of champagne ... and the birthday boy was 'invited' to take a sip after each 100 (which even he couldn't manage on the last 6 hundreds ;-). This sort of thing just doesn't happen in the UK. (More's the pity.) Alex

    Did my 2 workouts today. 5AM LCM pool: 600 choice (warmup) 400 kick 16x50's on :55 or a 1:00 pulling 2x300 25swim-25kick 4x50 25 moderate - 25 hard 300 warmdown. So if I added that right, it's about 3000M? Then did it all over again at 11:30. 6000m for me today :D
