I just found this heart rate monitor called the Mio. It is ok for the water and costa about US $100.00. The manufacturers website is: http://www.gophysical.com/
I will not wear a chest strap in the pool, but I am interested in training with a heart rate monitor to see how useful it is.

Thanks for the link. I also am not interested in one with a chest strap. I already get enough quizzical looks from all my other toys at the club.
