This appeared in the 'Times' newspaper recently. ' A CUB SCOUT who found that none of his friends had arrived for a regional swimming contest formed a one boy team, swam in every race and won so many events that he singlehandedly collected the overall team trophy. Joseph Smith, 10, the only member of the Belmont Isle pack to turn up for the annual Durham District Cub Scouts Swimming Gala, competed in 12 races against 8 teams, each with 6 swimmers. Joseph, from Sherburn Hill, County Durham, did the free, back and ***, coming first in every heat and earning a place in 4 finals. he won 2 and was runner up in the others. With the help of 2 volunteers from rival Cub packs, he won the relay. His father, Paul, said: " He was climbing out of one end of the pool and running to the other end to take his marks for the next event. It was remarkable." Joseph, who was given an 'unsung hero' award by his local newspaper, said: " Once I had won one race, I just kept going. Other cubs all started cheering. It was the best night of my life." ' Can you beat this ?
