Zada Taft passed away Friday morning August 30, 2002. Zada was a recipient of the 1979 USMS Ransom J. Arthur award. Her husband Ray passed away last month.
Zada, along with Ray, help found the San Mateo Marlins and she was instrumental in organizing the 1972 USMS SCY National Championships.
Zada swam at many Masters meets frequently take a first. A few years ago, she had a hip replacement, but that did not stop her from coming back and swimming competitively. After the hip replacement sometimes she needed help to get on the blocks, but with the starting signal she was off.
Zada is survived by her children Roy, Ray Jr and Lynne and by her many swimming friends.
