*** stroke turns: elbow your brother ...

Hi, I'm learning the breaststroke turn called "elbow your brother, call your mother". When I push off the wall I'm still rotated, maybe 45 degrees. I'm not flat on my belly. Do I have to be absolutely face down? In a race will I get disqualified for some rotation? How much is OK? Many thanks! Steve

  • Your fine. You should be somewhat rotated on the pushoff. As long as your are more "toward the ***" than toward the back you are legal. You do want to be completely flat before your first stroke movement, whether dolphin kick or pull down.
