Hi Elaine! Looking forward to meeting you in Montreal! Come find me so you can sign my book and get some USMS Tattoos.
I'll be looking out for that HUGE Uncle Sam hat! I saw your interview on Swimming World- good job! :D
besides, unless you find a wifi spot, the carrier is gonna ding ya for massive international roaming charges that might top that beer budget.
Good point. If anyone plans to use their phone in Canada it is definitely worthwhile to check into an international plan.
Tripadvisor has a free city guide app for Montreal. I found their other city guide apps very useful when I was visiting Europe. You want to install before your trip and open beforehand it so it can download all the app data. It has metro maps, places of interest with reviews, restaurants with reviews, walking tours etc. All the info is preloaded so you don't need a roaming data plan. It also has built in GPS navigation which is really helpful.

Meet Mobile is for meets run on Hytek Meet Manager software. Splash Me is another meet management program and it seems to be commonly used in Quebec. So I dont think this is a FINA money maker.
at 2 bucks a download it is clearly NOT free either!!!
\at 2 bucks a download it is clearly NOT free either!!!Let me see…
You spend $400 on airfare, $500 on lodging, $250 on a rental car, $110 on entry fees, $40 on food, $750 on beer and the thing that gets your goat is $2 for the instant gratification of results on your phone?:bolt:
p.s. good luck and swim great:bouncing:
How is that going to work for people doing OW and the 400 free (not an unnatural double)? If I recall correctly (always a risk), the OW schedule was revised after the entry deadline. Initially, it was all on Sunday.
I'll have to scratch OW because flight schedules. My airline changed the cheap flight to the morning, so it would cost something like an extra $300 to stay & swim an off event. Not the worst problem ever, but :frustrated:
This was just posted on Facebook:
OPEN WATER VERSUS 400 FREEAttention all Open Water swimmers and 400 free swimmers
The Swimming Coordinators have been working extremely hard to accommodate everybody swimming the Open Water on Saturday. The new schedule is now ready and it will allow for a break in the 400 free event to allow more rest time between both events.

Medic Alert Bracelets are allowed during warm ups and competition.
800 Freestyle events will be swum ONE competitor per lane.
Relays will be swum by age group SLOWEST TO FASTEST.
