Registration for Worlds should open soon(by 1-15 according to their website, which must operate in a different space/time continuum.)Who is going? This should be a really fun meet and with FINA now linking Masters Worlds with Worlds this may be the last time the meet is in North America for awhile.

Seems to be quite a number of swimmers echoing my dilemma, which (aside from time/money in general) is the timing. Coming off the back of the summer holiday is not great for parents of school-aged kids. I know there will never be a perfect time, but it must be a factor for Northern Hemisphere countries in general. And no, taking the family to a masters meet isn't a holiday!
My youngest daughter announced that she wanted to go with us to Montreal (she's 19). I thought it was a nice gesture until she added that she had planned her days and they did not include watching her parents swim. I guess we will get to see her for breakfast and dinner.
Still, it will be a zoo, and I'm prepared to have my expectations VERY low for a decent warm-up before my races. :agree:
Unruh and I will clear a lane for you. Just let me know when you need to warm up.
actually that may not even be possible.
why?
in italy they did not let men into the womens warmup pool and vice versa.
also be prepared that if you do not swim on a day you probably wont be allowed to swim at all in the warmup/competition pool.
we will need to go offsite to another facility. where? i dont know yet, but my bucket list goal is the '76 olympic pool on monday.

Unfortunately the Olympic pool's website says it's under construction until 2015.
Did you swim at Arkansas? If so this is Cheryl.
Thanks for the excellent tip. They do get a kick from watching me swim, but not enough to suffer through the other stuff
exactly. in italy i had a 2 day break. in the middle (relay day, next day) and they showed up to watch the 400 on the last day.
we had an amazing holiday afterwards in florence and then rome.
they are going for the whole thing in montreal but have plans to really explore the underground city and scout all the stuff to do after i finish on wednesday. i am cutting out what could be my best event (400) to have more holiday time.

yeah, my wife watched all my events (3). on the first day they put approximate event start time around 4PM. we came around that time to have time for warm-up but the event actually started at 6PM and I swam after 10PM. That is really annoying because by that time I was so wiped out that I didn't care anymore about my swim. :badday:
For the following days we've made corrections and came much later, also we found very useful link where organizes were publishing information from the marshaling room (current event, heat and calling heat). That saved a lot of time!
If not to count the first day we also had nice holidays - also visited Florence, then San Marino and Venice also spent some time on the beach after all events where over .
we will need to go offsite to another facility. where?McGill University has a Masters team and a decent enough 25M pool; not sure if you'll have access to it, but it is right downtown. The Montreal YMCA downtown also has a pool where you can pay a drop-in fee to swim, though the fee was fairly high and the pool is only just OK.
If you have a car, there are some other pools in the western suburbs, if I recall, that might provide pool time if you can't get in the main pools, though I haven't swum in them.

seriously bummed!!!
folks throw another olympian log on the fire!
Cheryl swam for canada at the 1984 Olympics and placed 5th in the 400 free relay.
her husband Peter also swam for canada and if my memory is right (from the stands) was 7th in the 200 fly also at the 84 Olympics. both were my teammates at U of Arkansas (yes at one time there was a mens team...thanks title 9)
