Some interesting races tonight:
Leverenz vs. Beisel in the women's 400 IM.
Franklin vs. Schmitt in the women's 200 free.
Franklin did NOT qualify 1st in the 200 back. I've not heard of Kendyl Stewart, but I expect her fortunes will be very different in the finals.
The men's 200 back is a similar story. Clary did NOT qualify first. That will change in the finals.
Also in the men's 200 back, cheers to Vyatchanin for qualifying 3rd. It's nice to see some swimmers don't retire at 25. I guess he is a better short course swimmer, but he'll be there tonight.
That not retiring sentiment goes for Natalie Coughlin too, who qualified 1st in the 50 free. I hope she takes it tonight, but the 100 yesterday shows that Megan Romano might have something to say about that.
The men's 50 free final has insane talent!
Don't call me this evening, I have plans.

It really was! A race I figured would be in the bag for Lochte got really interesting in the second half.
8th at the 50, 5th at the 100, 4th at the 150, PR by 1.5. The kid was fully tapered and shaved for the high school section meet 3 weeks ago. How do you peak again so soon?
Like me, he's permanently tapered. :-)
Ah, to be young again...

Youth is wasted on the young. :cane:
I saw the men's 200 fly--best race of the meet. I was sitting next to Justin Wright's Dad. He said , "yeah, he qualified first but he'll get killed in the final". I said "maybe not". HA! That's showing the old man, Justin!

I found the clip of the 200 fly in case anyone missed it and wants to see it.

(ETA - Takeitlive.tv is always fussy for me - I had to open it in IE instead of Firefox to get it working.)
I just asked my younger daughter, who is 5'4". She's danced with Justin a few times at school events and says 5'7" is probably about right. At the next dance maybe she should ask for his autograph.
Thanks for the clip. This might be out of date but according to new.berecruited.com/.../1675765 he is only 5'7".
