i have found that a jammer wont let me keep a pull buoy in place.
and yes BIG difference between workout and race.
workout is the cheapest that fits.
race is TYR AP12 and you wouldnt want to pay for many of those!
sadly, my shoulder is in such bad shape that i'm not even training to race but just to get back to a normal lifestyle without constant pain.
I'm sorry about your shoulder. I hope it heals quickly.
I use either a speedo endurance or dolphin jammer at practice (with drag suit), and use a Yingfa for racing. Need to get a new one when George starts shipping again.
Heck last week I put on my first jammer vs using board shorts and man was it a huge difference. It was just a cheap jammer I got off of outlet...but wow. I think I need to order another just so it doesn't get all stretched... and i've noticed that its already starting to loosen up partial due to wear/tear and partially do to losing fat! Its always nice when you wife tells you she can tell after 11 workouts that you've lost part of your belly!
People who wear jammers at practice are weird. :)
No Kirk, it's men who don't wear Jammers who are weird! I suspect they would get arrested for exposing themselves...
Sorry I could not resist.
I tried one of George Park's Yingfa suits as a mid-season meet suit, and I was very impressed. I got the Aquaskin, which was cheaper than most workout suits, and used it at a SCM meet this fall and got the No. 2 time in my age group in the 400 IM SCM even though I come to a virtual stop during breaststroke.
I hope to go to Nationals and will probably wear something different--an old Speedo speed suit, perhaps, or a B70, both of which I got as gifts/hand-me-downs. I think they might be marginally faster, but probably not hugely faster, than a brand new Yingfa. (These seem to be Teflon coated, and when I first wore it, the water beaded up completely. After wearing it at a number of midseason meets, the beading up is not quite so complete. Not sure it this makes it slower or not, but it does undercut the placebo effect insofar as it makes me wonder.)
I have heard that many guys really like the Tyr Tracer Lite.
I'd love to know what the consensus is for the fastest suit to $ ratio is. That Arena Carbon pro looked really nice, but I think you can buy cocaine cheaper by the oz.
Slightly tangential, but I just got my Nike jammer for swimming 500 miles in GTD last year. I ordered a size 32 and it seems really big. Anyone else notice this?
And I should add that I think it's awesome that Nike and All American Swim Supply are providing the incentive gifts for GTD! Next year I'll just have to remember to select a smaller size.

I think vanity sizing is creeping into men's swimwear. I've noticed the change in some other brands too. Instead of wearing a suit that is my actual waist size for a practice suit and one size down for a competition suit, which always worked fine in the past, now I'm at one size down for a new practice suit and perhaps two sizes down the next time I buy a new competition suit. :dunno:

You've just been dropping too many kilograms over the past few months...that's all. :)

I used my Nike GTD red brief for my last USA-S meet in Ellensburg, which was a size 30, and it seemed to fit just fine, and I had a great meet with it. Maybe it's the jammer, or maybe something else? Who really knows?
I'm also still in the hunt for a suit for Nationals. I've done everything else as far as signing up, hotel, plane, etc. Just need to get the suit. I may just stick with a new Yingfa as they are pretty good on the first couple runs as well like Jimby said above. Unless there's another cheap bang for the buck that's better.
