Alright then, let's say it must be a legal 200 fly. I don't think you need any crutch to make it a good gridge. You'll probably need to find someone else to video your swim, though. Odds are I'll be in the next heat!
I'm seeded at 2:06.01, so I should be a few heats ahead of you. But you should be there for a semi-front row seat.
We'll see what I can do! It's all about fun anyway! :D
Chowmi and I are facing off in the 50 fly at Colonies Zones on Saturday. www.patriotmasters.org/.../index.htm. I wish we were right next to each other, but looks like we'll be in lanes 3 and 5.
You should only be allowed 3 SDKs off each wall to make it a better gridge! :)
Make it legal James!
I might as well. :) I'll have another 200 Fly, along with all the other distance strokes and 400 IM the following weekend in a USAS pentathalon meet.

I'm not sure I could even do that anymore ... 10-11 off the start. We're seated within .11 -- that's a good gridge!
Well, then you can compare the 200 flys. :)

If you are lucky, there will be some 250# guy who is just slightly faster than you in lane 4, so you and Chowmi can both eat wake the entire way and get lousy times. That's what typically happens to me when I swim fly, but then again, almost nobody weighs less than me so I always get washed around unless I am leading, and since I am not fast that doesn't often happen.

Good luck everyone!
Agree!

I do feel like fly creates the most jostling and waves. But not this time! Men and women swim separately at Zones. There is a tall skinny girl in the middle.

No worries, she is going to be eating your wake anyway:)
And yes, nothing compares to fly for being tossed around like a cork. I breathed in a badly timed wave during a 50 fly last summer and was coughing the entire back half. Very uncomfortable.
Here's my question re James' gridge: should he be forced to swim a legal 200 fly? I have a feeling we'll see lots of one-handed touches and maybe even flip turns if we don't stipulate this rule.
