Hi. I am a parent of 9 y.o. boy, with great swimming potential. :) For the past 3 years I've been buying jammers just based on the fit (and kept buying a size larger every year). Now, I've decided to actually check recommended sizing. He is very tall - 4'10". His waist is about 26 and every site states that for this waist size should be 26. I am so confused as my son is wearing size 30 and I am thinking to already buy size 32 (next season). I am looking for recommendation from coaches and professional swimmers! Maybe I am wrong with sizing and that potentially can be not so good for his timing. I am also planning to buy an expensive suit for his swim meets (Blueseventy NERO TX Men's Jammer) and I don't want to make a mistake in sizing. Please share your opinion! Thanks!! :)

Well - I agree on spending tons of money on tech suits. That's the reason I started with a $85 one (sale + coupon) - TYR Tracer Light Jammer. The funny part it did seem to motivate my son! There is definitely a lot of psychology nowadays - kids to tend needs motivation with better things. :) In fact, after trying the TYR Tracer Light Jammer, my son didn't want to take it off, wanting to just walk around in it, saying that it feels tight, but amazing. As for a better practice suit, he said that his new practice suit was tighter (I went with smaller size, as recommended) and a better fit! So it helped him during practice. Whether he physically or emotionally feels better - I think parents needs to support that to their best ability. It's interesting how that works. Hope the new suit helps his times. Getting rid of the bagginess should get rid of a lot of resistance.

You can still measure your kids, but get a much better deal online. Generally each swim team has a set store, which comes twice a year to measure kids for swim suits. Otherwise check these: - Transports in Oakland, CA - NorCal Swim Shop in Walnut Creek, CA - Swim 2000 in Las Vegas, NV

Those suits stretch a lot. he should probably wear a 24 or 26 racing suit. I did get size 26! And it takes me 15 minutes to put it on him :) He is complaining a bit, but when it's on, he feels pretty good! I am happy to say that he greatly improved all of his times. With each meet (every 2 weeks), he does better and better. Most of his times are BB, very close to A, so he is now trying to reach Gold time! Keeping my fingers crossed. :)

Is the suit for a boy or girl? If for a boy measure 2 inches below the belly button. You buy the suit 1 or 2 sizes smaller for racing. If you are training you buy what you measure. I had heard you shouldn't downsize with the Speedo Fastskin3.I tried one on and that is really true.I wear a 30 in a B-70 and tried a 31 in the Fastskin3 and it wouldn't fit 1/2 way up my thighs.

I remember seeing a guy at Canadian Nats trying to put on a Fastskin3 suit in the lockerroom. He had on these "cute" little cotton gloves, struggling to inch the suit up his legs little by little. I came in, got undressed, threw my Yingfa on, got semi-redressed, and left. The guy barely got the suit another inch or two in the time it took me to go in and out. As I was leaving, I asked him..."is it really worth it?" He replied with "Not at all!" and smiled. :)
