Look what I found... What about you?

I haven't been swimming regularly since late March, but last week I hopped in the lake and went for a short swim (~1100m). As I was arriving back at the beach, look what I found. It was folded up in about four feet of water. From the looks of the bill it was underwater for awhile. That got me thinking... I wonder what other people have found while swimming that they didn't expect. Baby Ruths in pools don't count, nor does swimming with the explicit purpose of finding stuff (e.g., scuba diving to collect fish for your marine aquarium), or finding stuff while you were on dry land. • While running in Schaumburg ,I found a wallet - no $$$ but a drivers lic. & some papers with the home phone # on it. I called to tell him I found it & he said thanks & that it went missing at a drive in 15 miles away! He was happy to get the papers back!

Once I found a bottle, with a note inside, written on a cardstock type paper, that was still intact, but the writing was all smeared off. This was at va beach oceanfront.

Skip Snorkeling off St. Martin island in the Caribbean. I look down and there's a $20 bill being pushed in and out of the coral reef by the current. I don't know how deep it was but it was deeper than I am used to free diving. I thought "this is too good of a story not to go get it". It took a few attempts but I got it. My wife said that I looked like a little kid grinning from ear to ear as I walked down the beach to reveal my find.

I found a wedding ring in the pool a few months ago. I swam past it the whole practice staring at it because I didn't feel like interrupting my set to pick it up. Grabbed it at the end though and gave it to the lifeguard. Prolly coulda hocked it for some quick cash, but maybe the karma will help me out. Some day, when i lose my sanity, someone will find it for me on the bottom of the pool and give it back.
  • Last spring I was swimming in the high school pool like every morning, and noticed a new spot on the pool bottom in the deep end of the pool. I didn't think much about it for a while, then halfway through went to go see what it was. A quarter. Paid for 1/2 a soda at work. :)
