Hi, i'm new to USMS and have been swimming 2-3 time per week for about 4 weeks. Usually doing between 3500 and 5Km. I just signed up for my first meet since high school. I'll be swimming in the Gil Young Memorial/Northwest Zone LCM Meet. I would love some pionters or any advice anyone has. I'm excited, but also a bit nervous. I'll be swimming the following events:
50Br
200Fr
100Br
50Fl
and maybe the 800Fr (this is the last event of the day and I'm not sure if i'll have enough left to do this one) :)
I agree with this statement 90% or so. He forgot to mention that the ice cream truck backed up to finish the job. :bump:
There was happy music playing the whole time, so it was ok. :agree:
What if that relay has a shot at a National or World Record?
With my group, we have to compete in the 25+ age group, and it's way to hard to make an LMSC record when the rest of my teammates are 50+/60+ in age. I still swim relays for fun though, but I'm not going to skip an event for a relay. They're only 50s or 100s anyway.
I'll be at that meet and as it happens, I'm entered in the 100 BR and the 800 free along with you. Don't worry, you'll do fine!
cool. look forward to meeting you. I'll be the guy with heart tattoo on my chest. So look for me. It's always nice to meet new people.

First,it's meters so having older swimmers is an advantage as the ages are cumulative, second,we have a shot at a WR in the 400 Mixed MR if everyone shows up and swims well.
1. Have fun - If you're all alone, sit with a team that seems to be having fun...they'll surely welcome you
2. Bring snacks, and lots of 'em
3. If you wear glasses, bring them with you! Those heat sheets are impossible for me to read - - - though asking someone to help you find your name on the sheet is an easy way to meet people.
4. Have fun!

So what are the individual splits for a potential WR swim?

I think reasonable splits for us are :
1:19 BK,1:20 BR(me),1:13Fly,1:09 Free for 5:01,WR is 5:03.74,but figuring doesn't count,you have to swim it.
