Hi,
I am writing a piece for the next issue of SWIMMER on acid reflux. We'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with the condition and any success in managing it. Also, health professionals with opinions on current treatments are welcome to weigh in.
I'm happy to receive private messages, or you can post a reply here.
Thanks for helping,
Laura

I realize this is a late reply to this thread...but here goes! To the OP, did the article get published, would love to read, can you provide link.
I. Last year around this same time (Sept 2019), due to acid reflux irritation issues which started after I started swimming for a few months 60 mins daily my GI surgeon performed an endoscope at the same time performing an "oesophagus stretch" which sort of normalized the LES or lower oesophagus sphincter. Which it did post procedure the symptoms just went away. Soon after which due to Covid, pools closed and I stopped swimming.
II. This July 2020, with pools re-opening I have been going to pool regularly. And guess what -- within 2 months, the dreaded acid reflux symptoms have returned albeit mildly. I really feel it is the onset and am gonna stay off the pool to monitor symptoms.
I also feel it is the prone position, and the geometry of the great gut pushing against the diaphragm, pressure on the LES etc. Was hoping to get some experienced thoughts, but my search has yielded little. I will go the route of my GI specialist to get an opinion... But I hate to quit swimming since it's the single non-impact workout for me! Also hate the GERD meds and lifestyle changes!
Thanks much...
