2012 LCM Nationals

Anyone planning to attend Nationals in Omaha? If it wasn't for the venue, I would swim at SCY Nationals. You got to admit, competing in the Olympic Trials pool merely a few hours after Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps made a splash is awesome!
  • I am happy to announce the sixth event will NOT be dropped for this meet. Swimmers who entered six events will be able to swim all six. The psych sheets are available here: www.usms.org/.../ Due to the size of the meet (the second largest Summer Nationals in the 40+ year history of USMS) we will be deck seeding all events 200 and greater. Furthermore, all of these deck seeded events will be seeded by time (instead of by age group). The 50s and 100s will be preseeded by age group and then time (men and women separate). The 200s and 400s will be seeded by time (men and women separate) while the two distance events (800 and 1500) will be seeded by time with men and women combined (just like Greensboro). While it may be unpopular to seed the 200s by time at Nationals, this scenario creates a shorter timeline than dropping the sixth event on three of the four days. Please send scratches and/or entry errors to championship@usms.org by June 15. Thanks, Jeff Roddin USMS Championship Committee Ordinarily I wouldn't like this as I prefer to swim against my age group competitors ,but this time I am all for it as it prevents me from getting potentially lapped by Rick Colella in Rob Copeland's favorite event.

Hey King Frog! Are you going to let Rob get away with this ? :nono: I'm counting on you to croak out a great comeback! Kinda tough to have a comeback vs. the pure truth that Rob posted.

So does this mean we will have to check in somewhere the day of the event and we won't know who we will be racing until just before the race?
  • So does this mean we will have to check in somewhere the day of the event and we won't know who we will be racing until just before the race? You can check in as early as July 3rd for your events: www.usms.org/.../swimmerdetails.php But yes, you won't know your heat or lane assignments for your 200's until the heat sheets are posted for the events, probably shortly before heat 1.
  • You can make a good estimated of who is likely to be in your heat. Go to www.usms.org/.../ and then select Psych Sheet, select the 200 event you want, then click on Display Psych Sheet without age groupings. For the 200 Breaststroke, look at the 11 swimmers before you and after you. We are swimming 10 lanes per heat and the scratch rate should be less than 10%. 15 Ksiazek, Kendra 31 SDSM 3:06.01 16 Carlson, Jennifer M 33 RMST 3:07.19 17 Lambert, Megan 20 CTSM 3:07.94 18 Kelsall, Rosemary 50 MSBC 3:08.00 19 Good, Tricia 41 CMS 3:08.93 20 Connolly, Molly E 30 NEBR 3:09.00 21 Iseppi, Esther 54 AMT 3:09.00 22 Estel, Beth A 56 NEM 3:09.50 23 Dodd, Kara 20 BRS 3:09.56 24 Bennett, Ellen K 49 SYSM 3:10.70 25 Wilber, Dara 52 SMRT 3:11.34 26 Dawson-Cook, Susan E 49 ARIZ 3:11.36 27 Kaseman, Ann E 40 NEBR 3:12.14 28 Phelps, Melissa S 22 CMS 3:13.00 29 Massey, Melissa K 31 RAY 3:13.97 30 Simmons, Cheryl A 45 ROSE 3:14.30 31 Framke, Erin C 39 CMS 3:14.61 32 Burke, Colleen R 27 LVM 3:15.73 33 Stiles, Jasmine 46 SDSM 3:15.80 34 Bowen, Kris 50 INDY 3:15.80 35 Froehlich, Kathryn 50 IM 3:16.89 36 Walker, Sarah E 28 CMS 3:17.23 37 Mann, Melinda J 56 WMAC 3:17.56
  • Take that number Double it Thats how many were in just the 100 free of mens today here italy! Or Take that number 8x for this meet While this may be the 3rd largest lcm masters meet it is not even in the realm of stupidity that is worlds. 60. That is sixty in my age group alone did not swim as fast as the entry qual time! 6pm and the last heat of 100 free finished just now Up next 116 heats of the 100 *** I sure hope Chris is right and it's not that way in Montreal! :afraid:My husband already dreads the waiting that happens at local meets that take too long (especially if they are in hot/humid indoor pools). I can already hear him :bitching: at Montreal, even though that pool will be outdoors. As for me, I can't even imagine what the warm-up lanes must be like. :censor:

  • Hey, Jeff, I'm soooooo happy the 200s will be seeded by time and not age. Finally, I'll get to swim an event at nationals against the fastest people in the meet, many of which are not just my age group. My only 200 of the meet is the 200 IM (top seed??!!?), but I'm excited to step up and race people from all age groups. Now, what will it take to convince you to seed the 100 *** by time?
