Anyone planning to attend Nationals in Omaha? If it wasn't for the venue, I would swim at SCY Nationals. You got to admit, competing in the Olympic Trials pool merely a few hours after Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps made a splash is awesome!
Drinkers could easily do a 50 free with no visible difference after drinking a six pack. A better event would be something like a 200 free where you have to guzzle a beer at each wall before continuing. Now that would separate the men from the boys! Somehow I doubt USMS would officially endorse either event, though.
I would sincerely hope not...Not a very healthy way to direct the competitive spirit...

I recall a few SCY nationals in the early 80's that included an unofficial beer relay (4 x 50, stop at 25 & drink a can). It seemed to disappear after nationals were at the Y in Brown Deer, WI, where they frowned on adult beverages in the building. A root beer relay was held that year, except for one team that brought their own, already opened cans of "root beer" to the lane.
Good news - the CenturyLink Center has an alcohol permit and beer and wine will be for sale during Summer Nationals.
I don't think you want me on your beer relay. My open turns are lousy...
So if the meet social is Friday Night
Let's do the forum dinner Saturday Night
Saturday works nice for me! My events will be done by that evening. This is my first Nationals so I'm wondering how many people usually make the forum dinner.
The meet roster for summer nationals is posted at www.usms.org/.../roster.php. There are 1,256 swimmers entered in the meet. I have to have won the closest guess with my 1,234 attendance guess.
