Help Save Men's College Swimming & Compete at the same time

All, If you're concerned about saving men's college swimming, but also relish the idea of "beating some kids," then I highly encourage you to consider coming out to Tempe/ASU for the Swimming World Magazine Cactus Classic meet over Memorial Day weekend. A portion of the meet fees will go to the "Save ASU Swimming" Foundation, a foundation set up to help self-fund the men's swimming program at ASU. Check out the flyer below. It would be great to see a whole bunch of masters' swimmers show their support and their competitive spirit at this event. Can you think of a better way to start your LCM season?

  • Patrick, Have the meet organizers talked about getting a USMS sanction number for the meet? How about Q-times for those of us *just* on the outside looking in? I think this would be a great event to support and fun to swim in as well. Mona Plummer is a fast pool and is close to the airport for out of towners. Light Rail will be running in a few weeks so locals close to the line can take the train to the meet. Thanks for posting this, let's see how we can support this worthy cause. Doug, I doubt the time standards can/will change, but I'll ask about the USMS sanction. Rumor has it that the coaches are also trying to attract at least one or two "marquee" swimmers to show up to make finals even more interesting. I still haven't determined if I'll swim or not. I really want to, but it all really depends upon whether my oldest daughter wants to be seen competing with the old man at the same pool ... and if my wife won't give me too much grief about it.:afraid: Maybe if I can convince some other "old" guys to come out for this, there'll be strength in numbers?
