Is there somewhere I can go on line that has beginner workouts?

The past 2 days I have been doing this:

99m (33x3) x 4 sets with 12 breaths between each set.
66m (33x2) x 4 sets with 8 "" "" "" "" "" "".
33m (33x1) x 4 sets with 4 "" "" "" "" "" "".

792 meters in total.

I am hoping to increase those sets with another 33 meters each week. So next week I will do 122 x 4, 99 x 4, 66 x 4.

Thanks again :)

RE: Can someone suggest a beginners workout for me?

When I go to Mexico the pool I have to swim from one corner of the pool and across the pool to the opposite corner. This gives me 5 lengths makes a 100.

It sure would be great to have that size pool to work out in. Measure for accuracy it may be 33 and 1 third long.

Your 33 meter pool is a great size, 3 lengths of 33m makes nearly 100m. I would be doing lots of one length and two length swimming. Oh to have that long a pool to train in. Some great swimmers came out of 20 yard pools. You could measure 33 and a third meters and sink a clothes line so you will swim 100m instead of 99m by using it as a guide. We used to do that at Camp AkoMak from dock to dock so the swimmers could swim staight.

Where ever you see a 25 make it a 33
when you see 50 do 2 lengths and it works out to 66m.

I would get my 99 time and count it as a 100 time divide by 3 and it will give you a time for your 33m swims, double that it will give you the time for the 66m.

RE: Can someone suggest a beginners workout for me?

Thanks George. Looking forward to try some of those workouts.

I have a question though, I don't have access to an olympic or half-olympic sized pool. Currently hanging out at my parent's home which has an odd 33 meter (36 yards) swimming pool.

How should I adjust my workouts? Is there any convinient way for me to measure up my pace for lets say 50m or 100m? Thanks.

RE: Can someone suggest a beginners workout for me?

Thanks for those links, George. I swam 10 years ago in HS (like most adults around here), and haven't swam since. I remember doing 3500-4500 yards per workout back then.

While I would like to one day work back up to those workouts, I am finding 2000-2500 meters (I'm in a SCM pool now) to be about my limit for now.

For record, I started swimming again about 3 weeks ago now. Doing it 3 times a week, hoping I have the tenacity to stick with it.

RE: Can someone suggest a beginners workout for me?

The lingo is stupid. I prefer to keep it simple.

Can you swim more than 30 laps of a pool without stopping.

How fast can you swim 100 yards or 100 meters.

Can you swim all four strokes.

Laps of a pool. I was at the pool the other day and a fellow told me he swam 30 laps of the pool. He actually swam 60 lengths of the pool.

Language is very important.

RE: Can someone suggest a beginners workout for me?

Terms here are some www.staps.uhp-nancy.fr/.../swimterms.htm

I am a fairly new swimmer and have passed on alot of workouts because I didn't understand the lingo. I have been to swimplan.com and it seems alright.
