My swim instructor is also a USMS coach. For the sidestroke kick she has me moving the forward leg forward straight, not bent at the knee. The backward leg is bent at the knee. Has anyone heard of this style? I don't see anyone doing

RE: Sidestroke kick

Thanks but I'm asking about sidestroke, not freestyle

RE: Sidestroke kick

Chat GPT came up with the answer and links: "straight leg sidestroke"

RE: Sidestroke kick

Here is a recent video showing the freestyle kick "then vs. now" https://youtu.be/BQW9Zw0CsQ8

Here is a video series on the freestyle kick as well: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUaeqTN0mwx_LRxfrSlYtV1u2CuwDpELk

don.putnick

RE: Sidestroke kick

if i remember correctly Roy Saari did this type of kick on his freestyle. you'll need to use the "way back machine" to find any info on him !
