Is swimming in the ocean pretty common there? Any recommendations on best places to do some open water swimming? Thanks!

RE: Best places to open water swim in Fort Lauderdale?

decades of swimming @ laud-by-the-sea. start 250 to 300m north of the pier @commercial blvd. swimming parallel and 20 - 30m inside the boat exclusion zone line of buoys, head north. on a clear relatively calm day you will be able to see what remains of a beautiful reef, still supporting sealife. turtles, rays, various fish. make sure to stay inside the buoy line and even at that, be aware of approaching motors. we prefer early am for the absence of motors. also, this is an unguarded beach, swim with a friend.

RE: Best places to open water swim in Fort Lauderdale?

When I was there, it was just walk to the ocean and swim.

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll just try this. Maybe at Lauderdale-by-the-sea.

RE: Best places to open water swim in Fort Lauderdale?

When I was there, it was just walk to the ocean and swim.

RE: Best places to open water swim in Fort Lauderdale?

Check this list.
