Are there any groups? I did some looking online but didn't find anything recent. I know there's the Nantucket Community Pool but I'm mainly looking

RE: Nantucket swimming

I'll be there in Oct. I pinged the ACK Tri Club this morning to see if they have any standing OWS. There used to be a crew that met weekday mornings with Shimmo. Not sure if they are still doing that. Dionis and Eel Point are good options. I'd advise against swimming to Tuckernut, unless you have a support boat of some sort and its slack tide. I'm all for rough water swimming but that current is treacherous.

Cheers!

I pinged the ACK Tri Club this morning to see whether there are any standing swims. I've heard about a weekday morning swim out of Monomoy/Shimmo area. I usually will head over to Dionis/Eel Point or just along the beach in Nobadeer depending on the conditions.

BTW, I'm a fairly strong OWS and enjoy rough conditions but I would advise against swimming to Tuckernut without a support. Pat or some kind and then only at slack tide - that current is no joke. Have you been out there before?

Let me know if your up for a swim and I'll let you know if I hear anything from ACK Tri.

Cheers!

Likewise, I'll be out there for a couple weeks in mid August and am always on the lookout for company with open water swims. I just pinged the ACK Tri club to see if there are any organized (or disorganized) OWS happening in the next few weeks. I've heard about a group that swims out of Monomoy/Shimmo on weekday mornings. Dionis and Eel Point are good options (anywhere in the Sound) - flat and no currents. I'm straying over in Nobsdeer and sometimes will just follow the shoreline.

I would strongly advise against swimming out to Tuckernut without a support boat and at any time other than slack tide. Have you been out there before? I'm a strong OWS and don't mind swimming in washing machine conditions.but that current no joke and more swift than one might think.

Happy to meet up if your interested.

Cheers!
