It was years before my parents, who both did not swim, figured out that I'd been scamming the babysitters with tales of headaches and tummy troubles.

Who knew that all these years later, I'd be an addicted open water swimmer!

Haven't been back to that area in years, but was always a Fleets Cove girl myself.

RE: Long island swimming at West Neck Beach

Wow, that water is like glass. That kid has a really nice stroke and wow, the kicking. It's inspiring me to work on the kick more.

Was that a race or a fun OW event?

RE: Long island swimming at West Neck Beach

Just a typical weekend morning. Sometimes only half a dozen, but usually much more. All speeds and abilities just soaking up the OW experience.
