I am a new swimmer and only did the 2K which was once around the buoys. The water was a bit low due to the drought but the water temp was good. The wind picked up some and we actually had some waves. That made the event even more enjoyable (not being sarcastic) since I got some experience in choppy waters.

The staffing was great. Plenty of help in and out of the water. Plenty of food too. Facilities for showering afterwards was nice and great for those that did not swim.

THIS WAS FUN.

RE: Central IL Open Water Swim - Saturday, August 4, 2012

How was the meet?

For swimmers clustered in the northern latitudes, where the lake is hanging on grimly at low to mid-60s, a trip to the sweet sunny South of Hudson, IL, might be just the thing.

It's the only USMS-sanctioned OW swim in Illinois on that date. It is a popular date for a swim. The Long Bridge swim in Lake Pend Oreille, ID, for example, as well as Flathead Lake, MT, one-miler. And Point to LaPointe, WI.

A nice uptick in attendance last year, I believe. And the price is right.
