I've had trouble getting answers from the race organization about anything. They aren't providing much, but they aren't charging for it if you've signed up for the 10k, if I remember correctly. If it weren't so close (I'm in Baton Rouge), I'd be more disappointed and hesitant about it.

RE: Pensacola Race Management 25k

Wow. I don't believe any open water swimmers are excited about 'lap swims' regardless of distance but they do happen.

the 'lap swims' i have done this year alone include the Big Shoulders 5K in Chicago, IL, the Wild Fish 2-mile Swim in Salem, MA, the Steelman 5K in Quakertown, PA, the Rice Aquatics 1-mile in Houston, TX and the Swimmin' in Moonshine 2-mile in Branson, MO.

you don't like the course of a race, don't swim it... I appreciate anyone 'crazy' enough to host an open water swim - anywhere... any distance

I hope that it doesn't turn into a lap swim, but, if it does, that does make it easier on the supporting organization, so I'll understand why.

RE: Pensacola Race Management 25k

They have stated, or at least did at one point, that it would be an escorted swim, and that swimmers were responsible for finding their escort kayaks. The 10k was just an out and back, and that was enjoyable enough. 3 more passes of the bridge? I'm not sure I'd like that too much.

I am hoping, though, that the 25k goes off. Living in Baton Rouge, it's close enough to make it relatively convenient.

RE: Pensacola Race Management 25k

will the cubs have a homestand the weekend of our hypothetical 25K?

the 3-mile bridge swim is a fantastic event and venue... not perfect but very well executed. I certainly believe this group could host a 25K

RE: Pensacola Race Management 25k

Wow!
