After Saturday's extremely rough Nubble Light Swim, I was ill most of the day. I'm thinking it's because I swallowed a lot of salt water, although I've never had this problem

RE: Swallowing too much salt water

the hudson is brackish north to the tappan zee (i think this changes with the seasons)

What about the Hudson? Did anyone have similar experience? I never had problem at other beaches.

For me it's not swallowing problem. This past weekend I swam for about an hour at Brighton Beach. The water was extremely salty. As soon as I got out, my eyes felt strange, had trouble opening eyes. When I got home I found my eyes had grown very puffy/swollen, and painful. Looked and felt horrible. Now it's a little better but still not gone. I'm not sure if it's infection or what.

I was, but water still leaked in. But even without goggles, it shouldn't be so dramatic, should it? I have a feeling there are a lot of "stuffs" in that water, it's very opaque. On the other hand, most people there didn't wear goggles.

RE: Swallowing too much salt water

Were you not wearing goggles?

RE: Swallowing too much salt water

if you think conditions were especially rough causing you to drink more saltwater than typical for you than I would not worry about it...

too much 'salt' will result in you going at both ends... I am guessing you recovered in about 24 hours... yes - I have had this wonderful experience - different circumstances... similar results
