here is a link to the uic masters. they use a 50meter pool which is nice. http://www.chicagomasters.com/ here is link for the chicago beaches: www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/.../swim_report.home.cfm at ohio street beach (by navy pier). starting about at the beach and swimming north (parrallel to the seawall) to a bouy at the jetty is a half mile. so you can get some distance in. the temp is around 63. mark

Marjorie thank you for the information. That was very helpful!! I will be there for a swim in the lake most likely Sunday AM. I will look up UIC Masters for a swim Sat. Thanks again!

Start from Ohio Street Beach, which is just north of Navy Pier ($$ parking at the Pier), and swim north along the seawall any time, but early morning is best. It is not necessary to be part of an organized group; ppl swim, tris swim, etc. there throughout the day. For a group, try www.openwaterchicago.com. Masters groups are Chicago Blue Dolphins and, at UIC, Chicago Masters (I would recommend the latter as being likely to be less crowded).
