How about the Second Annual Great Ohio River Swim? I'm planning on doing it, though I probably won't be one of the quickest ones there! I was hoping to see you there.

JIM

I was so hoping to do that, and then my wife's family had to go schedule a family reunion in Florida for that weekend. Curses! and DRAT!

I hope you enjoy it so perhaps I can see you there next year.

RE: Chattanooga River Rat Race

My next swim is in a lake (5K) so no current this time.....THAT is gonna take some adjusting too! :D I'm actually going to have to SWIM the whole time to move forward!

RE: Chattanooga River Rat Race

Great event and it was nice to my Heidi. Had about 75 swimmers. The current was very strong and the winning time was about 15 minutes FASTER than last year! We did come around one corner and straight into the wind, and with the current made the water super rough....it was like an ocean swim for about 20-25 minutes!

Overall winning time was about 58:24 and I won my age group (30-39) at 1:03. Pretty fast for 4.5 miles!!:applaud:

RE: Chattanooga River Rat Race

Which one are you doing? GA Games at Lake Acworth (Part of Allatoona). Its like 20 minutes from my house! :applaud:

Then I'm probably done until the "Race for the Oceans" event in Oct unless I find another 1 or 2 I may want to do. Once we get into the fall I'll probably focus on Master Meets and preparing for SCY Nationals since they are at GA Tech here in ATL next Spring. Once that is over I'll go hardcore OW for longer events (10K and up) and "hopefully" start to train toward a Channel attempt in 2011.....we'll see?! That is my goal anyway.

RE: Chattanooga River Rat Race

Wow! Thanks for the pictures on the other thread. I think I shall definitely pencil this one in for next year. Which one are you doing? (My guess is you still come in at least 10 minutes faster than I on a 5K.)

I'm doing a 3K in Columbus in 2 weeks, another in July, and the 5K Big Shoulders in Lake Michigan in Sept. I just saw a flyer for a 2.4 mile in the Ohio River near Louisville. Looks like the 2.4 mile race means a 1.2 mile course doubled so if I do it, I may swim half up stream and the other half down.
