Very well run meet. They even arranged to have a rain storm come during the night to cool the water down.

87 degrees? I'm going to melt! That's a solid 30 degrees warmer than what I play in on a regular basis... I need to start hydrating now I guess

I've done this swim for awhile and water temp is usually 80-82. Last year (2009) was wonderful at 78-79. But this has been a pretty hot summer so far in Virginia, and we're supposed to have some 100+ degree days this week. So I wouldn't be too surprised to see mid-80s, unfortunately. The 1st heat should be a little better than the 2nd. At least we don't have to wear caps...

I believe the water was 90 the year I swam it (93). It was horribly, horribly hot.

SO...I will probably regret issuing this challenge, but are you and Jeff up for a rematch? Cumulative time: Jeff & Julie vs Chris & Heather. Loser supplies beer...sometime (since I need to work the USA-S race right after the masters race and can't go wine tasting). Chris, I'll sweeten the pot. If you can get Mollie to do the swim, no matter what the Rodplingers, Stevensons or Muppets do in the water, I'll buy the beer for everyone.

I will be there. I really like this swim, navigation is so easy, they start you in waves on 10, and Dave does a great jog organizing the swim. Plus, there are so many great places to go wine tasting afterwards! Julie SO...I will probably regret issuing this challenge, but are you and Jeff up for a rematch? I wish I didn't live so far away now or I'd be there in a heartbeat. I enjoyed looking through the results and history. I'm still hanging out on the top-10 list from many, many moons ago. :bliss:
