This event will be on November 9th and should draw a good amount of swimmers. Here is the info for the USA-Triathlon wave:

That was a fun swim, thanks for putting it on. Was surprised how fast everyone went out at the start, but it was all good!

RE: Tribal 2.4 Mile Swim at Tempe Town Lake

In case anybody was wondering, Patrick Brundage was the first man out of the water.

Way to go Patrick!

RE: Tribal 2.4 Mile Swim at Tempe Town Lake

Correction, the USMS event will be 2.4 miles only. Sorry for the confusion, the USAT event will have both distances.

RE: Tribal 2.4 Mile Swim at Tempe Town Lake

I just saw this the other day on the DCB Adventures website (www.dcbadventures.com), there will be both a 2.4 mile AND a 1.2 mile swim at this event.

This means if you are not a hardcore distance person (ex. me) you can opt for the shorter distance.

This ought to be a fun event, in April there were 391 open water swimmers when it was a USA-Triathlon event.

See you in November?

RE: Tribal 2.4 Mile Swim at Tempe Town Lake

Thank you very much for the update. I would love to tell the overseas open water swimming community about this event via www.10Kswimmer.com and www.10Kswim.com. I will be looking out for your updates and would love to post photos of the race(s) on these open water swimming-focused websites.

Great, we would love to have non-AZ swimmers at this event. The lake is just a couple klicks from the airport, the jets fly right over the lake in fact. When the light rail starts running on December 29th, you won't even need a car from Sky Harbor to Downtown Tempe!

Early November is also a nice time of year in Arizona. The water will still be comfortable and the sun will be out. Of course, people could stay an extra week and swim in the Ron Johnson Invitational too...

RE: Tribal 2.4 Mile Swim at Tempe Town Lake

Thank you very much for the update.
