There is an excellent nugget of wisdom in this video. Namely: In order to train for a fast(er) mile, they (Terry &amp;amp; Dave) isolated both stroke length and stroke rate into separate components that can be easily and continuously measured in objective ways. Since distance/stroke * stoke/time = distance/time, one can train either or both of the left hand components in a finer grained, objective fashion than just &amp;quot;swim faster.&amp;quot; The racing speed &amp;quot;comes along for the ride&amp;quot; as a side effect of this method. This is similar to what racewalkers do.
