I have a swimP3 player and am disappointed. There is so much noise associated with swimming that the music is hard to hear.

I LOVE my SwiMP3. I use Mack&#39;s silicone earplugs to block out the splashy noises so I can hear the music. I also accidently discovered that the speakers will stick to the earplugs. They&#39;re supposed to be on your cheekbones, which works fine, but you can hear even better when they&#39;re wedged into your earplugs.

Around Alcatraz
Huntington Beach Pier Race
Tour of the Buoys
La Jolla Roughwater
Waikiki Roughwater
Maui Channel Relay
Around Key West
Bermuda Sound Swim
Santa Barbara 6 Mile
TIburon Mile
South End Alcatraz Swim.
Newport Pier to Pier
Seal Beach
Corona Del Mar

And some other local mid-week swims if I can. I&#39;d like to do another New York swim but my schedule may not be as accomodating as it has been for the last several years--unfortunately.

Hope for a busy summer.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: EVENTS 2007

The Maggie Fischer Memorial Great South Bay Cross-Bay Swim, from the Fire Island Lighthouse to Bayshore, NY; Friday, Aug 3rd, 2007

I am considering swimming in the lake george OW (esp. since theres a 500m) but I also hope to do some races over in NJ in the ocean. I&#39;m not sure when they are, haven&#39;t yet looked into it, but I know they&#39;re there::family goes to the jersey shore every summer and they always have fliers and such for them...

Try www.lmsports.com for some NJ races. I did the Swim for the Dolphins and the OC Masters Swims last year and they were a lot of fun. The Bridge to Bridge swim in AC was fun too. The September Splash is on the bay side, so it is calmer. Good luck. Maybe I will see you there.

1. Potomac River Swim 7.5 miles (6/2)

2. Lake Montclair, 1 and 2 miles (did the 2 mile last year, this year both)

Possibly Reston, but that&#39;s only one week before the Potomac (5/27), so I&#39;m not sure about that since it&#39;s a 3 hour drive. If I go, will probably do both the 1 and 2 mile swims, but not the championship. Any advice?

The Jack King 1 mile at Virginia Beach if they have it this year. Haven&#39;t seen anything about it yet.

Either the Rainbow Channel Challenge or the September Splash if I can arrange the time to travel.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: EVENTS 2007

I&#39;ve never done open water races before (im more of a sprinter in any event) but I have been increasing my consecutive swim times to 2hours so, I am feeling the confidece bug. I&#39;ve been lurking for a while, but I finally decided to sign up. I took a bit of an extended break from swimming last year, and I only just got back to regular practices in January, so I was a little scared when I got an e-mail confirming my entry into the Chesapeake Bay Swim. But so far, the training&#39;s going well.

Here are the races that are definitely on my calendar so far:

5/19 USMS 5K Open Water Championship in Fort Myers, FL
5/27 1.5K Lady Liberty Swim, NYC (Hudson River)
6/10 4.4 mi Chesapeake Bay Swim

I&#39;d really, really like to do the Boston Light Swim in August, but I&#39;m not going to commit until after I see how I feel at the Chesapeake Bay Swim. If not this year, then definitely the next.

And I&#39;ll probably enter a few races in the New York City area in the 2-3 mile range. My boyfriend started swimming recently, and I&#39;m hoping that by the time September rolls around, he&#39;ll be ready to do the half-mile Cove to Cove swim in the Hudson together. Good Luck to all.
