I finished in 31:42 #42 out of 69 in my division (wetsuit, male, over 40), which was better than I had expected for my first competitive swimming event ever.

But my wife's camera batteries went dead before I finished

RE: RCP Tiburon Mile last month -- Was anyone there?

I wasn't there, but I wish I had been. This was my first year. I came in the bottom half of my age group, but it was my very first open water race. So I was just lucky to finish. I had been training in the pool for about a year, but hadn't swam in the bay until about 2 weeks before the race. I mean I have surfed before so it wasn't my first time in the ocean.
Next year I am doing it without the wetsuit. And I have my sites on the Escape from Alcatraz race.

I train at Paradise cove in Tiburon. If you ever want to join or need a swimming partner I am game.
