My wife and I swam in the 1975 Long Course, with our 10 week-old son in tow. The meet was held in the indoor pool with the outdoor used for warmup. Great pool and meet! Haven&#39;t been back since, but would like to see another Nats there sometime.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Two Day LCM Meet at UTK in Knoxville, July 9-10

I never swam at this pool but I swam in the other one years ago that was called Student Aquatic Center and that was a state of the art pool back then. When&#39;s the next meet going to be held there?

Alas, the talented, energetic, and ambitious Jessica Hart, who was head of the masters program at the time, got a real job, somewhere in Virginia. Her successor didn&#39;t last long in the role, and I have no idea who&#39;s in charge now. I suspect the next masters meet will be in about ... never.

However, if you are fast enough to swim with the kids (or don&#39;t mind finishing 75th out of 80), there are several USAS meets hosted by Pilot Aquatic Club each year. The next meet is the Pilot January Classic, Jan. 18-20, link here.

When I drive it, it really is about the same time as Knoxville.

It&#39;s not my call. I&#39;d LOVE to come to the UT pool. I really wanted to come to the SC meet back in December. We&#39;ll see which way the club votes. We DO have a strong backer for Carbondale, since one of our swimmers did his undergrad work there and also swam collegiately for SIU. I&#39;ll do what I can

OF COURSE you are most welcome and strongly encouraged to come to our humble facility here in Knoxville!

May I quibble with your estimation of the driving burden? According to my investigations, driving from Shelbyville, TN to Carbondale, IL takes 4 hours 28 minutes (261 miles), but driving from Shelbyville, TN to Knoxville, TN only takes 3 hours 25 minutes (207 miles). In all fairness, your teammates should have accurate information prior to voting!

While I confess to shameless cheering for the home team here, I will resist the urge to post a link to a rousing rendition of Rocky Top. You&#39;re welcome.

Here is something I just noticed about the event order ...

2011 USMS LCM Nationals .... GKMS LCM Meet July 9-10

Thursday, August 4, 2011 ... SATURDAY July 9, 2011
5. 400 Individual Medley ... 1. 400 meter IM
7. 200 Freestyle ........... 2. 200 meter Free
9. 50 Breaststroke ......... 3. 50 meter ***
11. 200 Backstroke ......... 4. 200 meter Back
13. 100 Butterfly .......... 5. 100 meter Fly

Friday, August 5, 2011
17. Men 400 Freestyle
21. 100 Breaststroke ....... 6. 100 meter ***
23. 50 Butterfly ........... 7. 50 meter Fly

............................ SUNDAY July 10, 2011
............................ 9. 400 meter Free
25. 200 Individual Medley .. 10. 200 meter IM
27. 100 Freestyle .......... 11. 100 meter Free
29. 50 Backstroke .......... 12. 50 meter Back

Saturday, August 6, 2011
34. Women 400 Freestyle
37. 200 Butterfly .......... 13. 200 meter Fly
39. 100 Backstroke ......... 14. 50 meter Free
41. 200 Breaststroke ....... 15. 200 meter ***
43. 50 Freestyle ........... 16. 100 meter Back

It&#39;s probably not accidental that the two event orders are similar. But I can&#39;t explain why the 50 free and 100 back are swapped at the end!<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Two Day LCM Meet at UTK in Knoxville, July 9-10

Great to see....this meet really helps fill the void in July.
