Heck, 33-year-old Noriko Inada&#39;s 100 back time at Auburn (1:01.78) was faster than the time of ANY male at the meet, in any age group.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: 2011 USMS Summer LCM Nationals in Auburn, AL

Test for enhanced swimming ??!! If I&#39;m not mistaken, Karlyn Pipes-Neilson accomplished this at LCM Nationals in Portland in 1995 in the 200m back. I think she was 30-34 for that meet.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: 2011 USMS Summer LCM Nationals in Auburn, AL

Heck, 33-year-old Noriko Inada&#39;s 100 back time at Auburn (1:01.78) was faster than the time of ANY male at the meet, in any age group.

(1:05.37 to 1:05.56). She also beat him in the 200m Backstroke (2:25.44 to 2:31.26). She set a national record in the 50m Backstroke (30.84) but Christian was faster going under 30 in the 50 as well as two other split request swims. :D I really tried to go the entire race with only a few breaths, but I was so pooped out by the end, it looks like I completely ran out of gas by the time I got within 15 meters of the wall. :censor:

Steve Wood (M50-54) - 100 Back &amp;#x202a;rogerv 100bk&amp;#x202c;&rlm; - YouTube

1 Wood, Steve 51 BLU 1:06.99 1:01.89N 11.00
30.20 1:01.89(31.69)

If anyone knows him, pass it along.

Emile Ewing (W 18-24) - 50 Back &amp;#x202a;emilee_50bk.3gp&amp;#x202c;&rlm; - YouTube
1 Ewing, Emile C 24 AMS 34.00 30.84N 11.00
In perhaps the lone gridge match of the week, Emile and I bet each other a bag of Dave&#39;s M&amp;M&#39;s against our *** stroke relay swim times. She had already swum a 35.71 in an earlier relay and my 50 *** stroke time from the previous day was 37.04. I clearly needed to dig deep but chocolate was on the line and I managed a 36.06 to make it interesting. Alas, Emile is a machine and cranked out yet another 35.71.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: 2011 USMS Summer LCM Nationals in Auburn, AL

Here&#39;s Leslie&#39;s world record swim... at least the first half of it. I just watched the entire slide show from today and you did an AWESOME job! Thanks so much for getting such great shots of everybody from Anne Dunivin (&quot;Anne with an E&quot;, our 95 year old teammate) to Roderick, on his 50 free. I was surprised to see you even got me in a breaststroke sequence and on the blocks before my 50 free. Thanks! Bruce shoots video of my races, however, I have never seen any still shots, so thanks for getting some during the meet. And, thanks for getting shots I would have liked to have gotten, however, Bruce had my camera up in the stands! You really did an outstanding job with your photography. :D

It was warm but not too hot. The outdoor pool was awesome for warming up. There was a small walk to get there but the lanes rarely had more than 3 people in them. It let me warm up at whatever speed I wanted without running into anyone or being in anyone&#39;s way. It was also nice to get out in some fresh air an sunshine. Thanks to all who put their valuable time in to making this a memorable Nationals!

I started a little tradition for myself of staying on a bit longer in the nationals host town. So nice to stroll around leisurely and enjoy the local flavor.
If at all possible I try to make the club&#39;s Monday masters workout.

I never got out to the outdoor warmup pool, so I&#39;m happy the Auburn Masters coach gave me a thumbs up to join their workout -outside tomorrow!

I love going to Nationals and haven&#39;t missed one since I started swimming in 2005 at age 59. Ttis time I scored 5 seconds and a third and I&#39;m feeling mighty proud at this moment. But most of all I leave having witnessed amazing feats by others, including the elderly, the truly talented, and the totally courageous. I always depart a better person.

Also must report that Lumpy is completely recognizable in person. I know there were numerous regulars out there, but I only was able to meet Lump up close and personal. Leslie, I know you were there, but missed you this time. (met you in Boston).....great swims once again.

Anyway, once again I walk away with so many great memories, including the knowledge that what we do is not all about swimming. It&#39;s about character, hard work, and the desire to be the best that we can be. This is all about the USMS experience and I feel honored to share the experience with so many like minded people!<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: 2011 USMS Summer LCM Nationals in Auburn, AL

Thank you Elaine for the videos.

I got half of Leslie&#39;s WR but she kind of blew away the person I was filming and left the frame at the end. I&#39;ll try to post it when youtube finally queue&#39;s it through.

Thanks so much, Peter! How cool that you got the one race we didn&#39;t. I sure appreciate it! :applaud:

I had to laugh at the end of my race; I sure was out of steam! I was so tired by then, thanks to the lousy night of sleep at the hotel the night before. Wednesday night was rotten, too, and it sure showed in my race times on Thursday and Saturday, in my breaststroke. On Friday, I got a PB in the 100 breaststroke and my free relay split was a PB; faster than the 50m free race you filmed. Sleep makes all the difference in the world for me; speaking of which, I&#39;m ready to hit the pillow... :bed:

Peter is right; it was a fantastic meet! Thanks, USMS!

I would also like to thank you, Peter, and your teammates, Roger and Dave, for being so supportive and encouraging, just like you were when I met you guys at the February Auburn meet. I heard the Titans cheering from the starting block and I can hear cheering going on in the video Bruce took of my 200 breaststroke race. Bruce picked up on the positive stroke critique, as well, and passed that information to me. I appreciated it very much, because I was TIRED and my time was terrible. Between the Titans and the Starks, the support was fantastic. THANKS!

Please pass my thanks(!!!) on to Roger and Dave. Everything went off on time without any issues that I could tell. The weather cooperated nicely which kept the outdoor pool open until the very end of the meet. Thanks to all who put their valuable time in to making this a memorable Nationals!<div style="clear:both;"></div>
